Rnd 6 - Port Magpies v Sturt @ Alberton (Sun 11/5)
After dropping their first game in the SANFL as a new entity, the Magpies have taken all before them and are comfortably accounting for whatever opposition side they come up against, including the Adelaide Crows SANFL side last week, up in the Clare Valley...
The Double Blues are flying and are getting some great team spread, not relying on 1 or 2 of their star players. They made a slightly undermanned North Adelaide side look pretty ordinary on the weekend, winning by over 10 goals...
Without a doubt, this is match of the round...

If having half a side out injured is slightly undermanned, then yes North were slightly undermanned. Having said that Sturt were very impressive. They have a good mix of youth and experience.

I guess I was more referring to the side the week before that showed great spirit the week before to defeat Norwood...
All clubs have a heap of injuries at the moment and depth is being tested. Some have more than others. What I saw from North on Saturday was pretty poor, regardless of who was out there, or not...
O'Brien, Obst, De Leonardis, Boles, G.Thring, Gallman and Gregg are probably in your best 21 and Williams out suspended would certainly make a difference to North's line-up so perhaps you are right, robranisgod, that is slightly more than undermanned...

Were Port taking it easy out in the country, to only beat by 45 points a Crows side that most opponents have beaten by a similar margin? Or are they starting to come back to the pack? Find out this week, I guess.

Game of the round for sure, 1 v 2! Deserves a really good crowd. Have a feeling that Sturt are the type of side who may really push Port. Port by 2-3 goals.
No Surrender!

wow, i just went through the results of ports games this year...over 20 goals 3/5 games including the thumping of the bays...
too early for sturt to be classed a top 3 side until we play everyone but i would hope we give the swampies...er i mean, the power reserves a good crack!

Looking forward to see how we shape up against the franchise salary cap cheats.

Well when you add up the wages of the AFL blokes I bet you don't get past 2 players before you exceed the opposition's salary restrictions........

He was talking about us cheating the system. I thought the system allowed us to play our AFL players in our SANFL side? Don't see how thats cheating.

Might not be cheating but surely you would agree it is CLEARLY an unfair advantage that the Port Aelaide Football Club has...

Part of the deal also involves the Poker tables at the Adelaide Casino. Port Magpies are allowed to know the Turn and the River card in advance and use the opponents money to make their bets. It's not cheating, the system allows it, I'd just avoid playing their table. For some reason lots of people still like to watch. I guess they like a winner.

When the decision makers of the competition turn a blind eye its legalised cheating......
Sadly I can't see the Blues getting close at all. Saw the Power sweep the Eagles off their feet on Easter Monday with superior fitness and skill execution (possibly to the fitness levels). Our kids won't be able to keep up with the full-time professionals

I was referring to the current system and that the Magpies were done for breaching the salary cap along with West and Norwood...Salary cap cheats.

The amount of whinging about Port Adelaide is unbeleivable It gives clubs and ideal target for where clubs should be The SANFL needs to have clubs acheive that level to ensure we remain a viable competition not go backwards. Do the work required crows side on the weekend had more AFL listed players in thier side but because they lost not a word said The calibre of playerssmith walker rutten ottens thompson etc Please lets make the sanfl survive and not end up like the WAFL

This is so true. I can't believe all of the other SANFL clubs haven't stepped up to Ports level. The sooner they all go and recruit 15 AFL players and not include their payments in the salary cap the better. If they could then dodge up the payments they do count by shuffling them off into their 2018 salary cap while using employment within the club as a further way to manipulate their team structure then the SANFL will finally be getting somewhere.
I hope Sturt win the game.
