Re: Round 20 North vs South
South to win the American Civil War in a canter. Good for their finals hopes, but a setback for emancipation.

Only 2 changes for the roosters a bit surprising.
North going for 7 losses in a row.
South by 60 points.

Re: Round 20 North vs South
Jake Veide is a MASSIVE loss and a huge dent in our finals aspirations, really terrible news for Jake and the team, he is in the top 5 most important players in our side. Ever since the great David Kantilla passed away in a bazaar car accident i reckon my club is cursed, this news continues my (bazaar) theory

Re: Round 20 North vs South
Interesting that North are still playing Brandan Parfitt in the 18s given he played League and Ressies for most of last year.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yes, terrible news for Jake and the club. Has battled injuries over his career but had been enjoying a relatively good run the past 3 years and as a result was playing some very good football.
Aussie rules can be a cruel game.

Re: Round 20 North vs South
A pretty competitive first half in which north had clearly come to play. Their pressure harassed South into some terrible errors, which enabled them to hit the scoreboard often. North were in front marginally at halftime I think.
Gotch was clearly unimpressed with Souths first half and he obviously got his message across at the long break. After halftime South completely dominated the game, Eddy kicked 7- some from extraordinary angles and Haren kicked 3. Best for South I thought were Rose and Crabb and Rankines 2nd half was excellent.
A week off before we play the Cows at home -a match to see if we can end the season winning all of our Home matches.

Re: Round 20 North vs South
Good summary b+w. South got on top in the middle after half time and North's pressure and skill level coming out of defense dropped away dramatically.
The club named Crabb, Rankine, Eddy, Rose, Cross and Liddle as best. Hard to argue with any of those. A few of Eddy's goals are certainly worthy of the highlight reel, as was Rankine's running goal in the final term after taking the mark just forward of centre. Liking what Haren has added since his return to the side. He's a guy I've been critical of at times but 6 goals in 2 weeks and more of a presence around the ground has been handy.
Pleasing to stitch up the double chance.
As an aside I paid the BBQ on the flank at the northern end a visit. They have a rather unique way of giving you two sangs and a ton of onion.

Has that ever happened before? Pretty sure it hasn't since the landscape changed in 1991.

Re: Round 20 North vs South
Which part, South not losing at home for a season, or being safely tucked away in the top three by season's end?
I asked the question relating to the highest finish a while back, I think there was a year that they had which was better, during the 90s.
As for unbeaten at home? Perhaps when Cornes coached them they were fairly strong at their then home of Adelaide Oval. Don't believe I have heard of them achieving the feat at Hickinbotham.

I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
