Going and throwing 20c coins at Ablett because he made a decision that impacts on his life long financial security is a bit rich and I know REB well enough to know he wouldn't actually do it.
But like CP has said, HTFU guys.
I was waiting for you to come in and spin some crap. Surprised it took you so long. Just hope for your sake you don't lose a player from your team who is the best in the league. I can imagine the carry on coming from you. It's done and dusted, so let me mourn in peace.
- You got the bloke as a bargain basement father/son - He helped deliver your club from decades in the wilderness - He helped deliver 2 premierships - He contributed to your club dominating the competion for an extended period of time
He's done enough to deserve to be treated with respect.
The AFL should be the target for fans anger if they feel the need to dump on someone. Even then - I'm pretty sure most clubs had a say in what concessions the GC would get when they were proposed a couple of years back. It's too late to cry foul now.

Sorry, have it gone off at Gazz have I???? I'm just upset he's gone. I couldn't give a fat rats clacker if you want to call me a drama queen or anything else. I'm passionate about the game and I'm ******* devo he's gone. I never said i hate the bloke. So everyone that wants to have a go at me. You can all go and get ******.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Whoa BC - I wasn't having a go at you mate. I know you haven't said anything against Garry. It was just my observation on the situation (and the reaction of some fans around the place) that's all.
God knows how I woulda felt if Roo or McLeod had left when they were in their prime.
Seriously BC, I appreciate your feelings. Although Shaun Burgoyne is no Gary Ablett and he didn't leave the club for a new franchise establishment, I was shattered when he decided to leave. All footy fans have lost a player they have loved over the years, but you just get on with it. Sure, this wound is only fresh and will sting for a while but we will all move on.

I reckon he still would have gone mal. Reading his article in the paper today, it look as though other factors like:
- getting out of his father's shadow - re-uniting with his brother - gaining position of leadership - looking for a new challenge
Geelong are better off without him now. They threw everything but the kitchen sink in to keep the bloke and if he'd relented at the last minute and stayed it could've caused potential resentment amongst the playing group knowing that one bloke is sucking up so much of the salary cap. That's now Gold Coasts problem.
Geelong have come to the end of their run anyway with the cyclical nature of AFL football, they've picked up two premierships during their window of opportunity and have become profitable. Now they've got two high compensation draft picks which they can use later down the track and not have to pay nearly as much for two blokes as they were offering to pay one. By this stage they'll be ready for another rebuild and run at the title in 5-6 years which is a good turn time around time these days. The anger and sadness that supporters feel now will be long forgotten when they're back up there.
I think Geelong have actually done very well out of this.
