LOL! They are from Kingston where I am living (birthplace of Bryan Adams and Dan Aykroyd as well - whoo hoo!) and there's been a big hullaballoo in recent weeks as they have renamed one of the city's major streets 'Tragically Hip Way'! I nearly took a pic of it the other day :)

Record fair was shite BTW

I go to see Clem at Clem's Collectables (just off Pauls Drive Valley View). He's got so much stuff he doesn't know what to do with it. I haven't been there for a year or so but always find 30 or 40 dollars gets extracted from my wallet.

He has some dud 50c 45's through to real collectable stuff but you have to be willing to climb through stuff to get there.

There was also a place on Bridge Rd Pooraka from memory which had a heap of 45's and albums but I don't know if they're still around.

For stuff I can't find, or NEW releases, try http://www.classic45s.com/

A mate of mine and I often go halves in postage and we think the pricing is quite reasonable even with postage. Now that the $ is so high, it makes it even more reasonable.

I will be going to the fair out at Semaphore

The few spots I go too.

- Wait for a record fair (ie Vinylpalooza @ Christian bros College in city or the Arkaba Hotel sometimes have a small one on but I find that to be pretty pricey!!)
- Big Star @ Norwood have a small range
- On Goodwood Road there is Rock Therapy. Pretty good range and not badly priced 2nd hand records.
- Mr. V music on Semaphore Road
- There is a place in the Richmond Hotel Mall off Rundle Mall......seriously pricey!!! IMO
- Some people i know have gone to Salvos etc...but I have never had any luck :(
- Ebay I use a fair bit too.

If anyone has any other ideas where some are or recommend, let us know ;)

They had a stand at the Fringe and a mate went and said the same thing. To have a shop in Adelaide selling this type of stuff is very uncommon these days. I hope they make a quid but I doubt any of it will be mine.

Just got back to from it.... Bloody jammed packed and had to fight to get to a table. Some good stuff.

I damaged the wallet a bit and had to force myself to leave. Ms Southee would not be impressed if more damage was done!!!

Yeah it was a bit off-putting how jam packed it was real cheek-to-jowl stuff.

I would've thought the Masonic Hall would be bigger than that and couldn't wait to get out the back to get some fresh air.

I recognised a few familiar faces running stalls, Fat Ian, Mr V and the infamous Little Eddie.

Very true !! Always at the front of gigs with his camera in tow!!

Everytime I see him it takes me back to Stix pool hall days in gouger street.... Everytime I went up to him to request a song he would reply " we already played it" .... Used to drive me and my mates crazy!!!

Ha! I'll never forget the night Song 2 was played there and it felt like the floor was going to drop into the Greek restaurant below!

Not a bad day out! I had a minty fresh Pretty in Pink OST, Blondie's Parallel Lines and the first World Party LP in my hot little hands...before I realised I didn't like any of them enough to ship them back home, so I put them back. It was Record Store Day here yesterday - Went on the hunt in Toronto where there is a thriving vinyl scene but didn't pick up anything for pretty much the same reasons :(

Organiser Phillipa Corbett is expecting about 2000 music fans to this gig
There is an expectation of about 100,000 records and CDs
Magazines, books and collectables and other memorabilia will be on display

Adelaides Nick Giannakalos will have a stall
Nick will be displaying some or all of his collection of about 8000 vinyls
Nick started buying his collection in the late sixties

He also frequented night clubs in the late 60s to see some early Adelaide bands in action
Some of the bands Nick saw were
The Others
Hugo
The Insect
The Why 4

Some of the clubs were
The Scene[Pirie Street]
The Cellar[Twin Street ]
20 Plus Club [Grote Street]

Ive never heard of those clubs, and I dont reckon they were around in the mid seventies when I became a nightclubber

For those who want to 'Ventures' this weekend
Adelaide Vinyl Music Fair
Estonian Hall
200 Jeffcott Street
North Adelaide
May 19 + 20
$15 admission
$5 after 10.00am
Kids , free admission

The Pawn Broker on Unley Road (near corner of Oxford Tce.) has a reasonable range of vinyl.
