The Alexander Downer for leader question is not going away.
And it's definitely not just paper talk, ie yesterday's In Daily.
Word from the inside is that it's still a strong discussion point.

To top it off, Abbott would be at Federal level (although personally I don't mind Downer, but having them in power at same time at state and federal level, would be a bit off-putting for some people I'd imagine).

Downer would be better than the others from both sides I would have thought.

Let's face it, anyone could do a better job as SA premier than that weak glass of rainwater we have running the show at the moment. Frankly I thing Downer could do a great job. At least he has an education, can talk without a PR machine and spin doctor feeding the TelePrompTer.

Yeah. Isobel is a nice person, well meaning and quite genuine but she is not a leader of a political party. Too soft and introverted.

So she isn't a politician then.

Well, probably not in the true sense but she is a lawyer which seems to be a pre requisite

Agreed, even he's got more sense than this.

Why the delay on pre-selection for Schubert then, experts?
Pre-selection started in October and should be done by now.
But, instead it won't be decided until March. That's an unusually long process.
Thoughts?

There might be more bridges to paint between now and March, with candidates for pre-selection being auditioned as part of that process :)

Surely she has to go ...

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 6536595986

EDUCATION Minister Grace Portolesi knew - but failed to reveal when asked in October - that parents at a second Adelaide school had not been told of a serious sexual incident involving a student.

The Education Department last night revealed a teacher at one of Adelaide's most prestigious public schools was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a student seven months ago.

Parents at the school have not yet been told. The Education Department said the initial decision not to reveal the case was made because there were very unusual circumstances specific to this case.

It's on:

THE pathway for former Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer’s move into state politics is being smoothed by a recruitment campaign for senior staff.

Indaily has spoken to two people who are considering offers made to them to join a Downer office in 2013.

“Your stories have been 100 per cent right,” one person said, on the condition of anonymity.

“He is quietly building a list of key people.”

Indaily, however, has established that the approaches haven’t come from Downer himself, but an intermediary who was unavailable when contacted late yesterday.

The intermediary has made the approaches on the basis that the Downer move can be expected to be unveiled around March 2013, a year out from the next state election.

In line with when Schubert pre-selection is expected to be announced.
All those people lined up to snare that seat and be gifted a career in politics for life if they choose it and they could be usurped by Downer.
