Re: Time for a ball re-design?
Sherrin has made silver ones. I've seen kids kicking them around.
My daughters have a pink one.

Re: Time for a ball re-design?
Yeah, they're little kids balls though, right.
I want full-sized adults balls to be silver.
Is there a better way to frame these sentences?

Sherrin now make full size flouro balls for night training under poor lights. They come in yellow white pink or red. I like lamp

Why dont we all wear lycra body suits and have neon globes all over the goal posts??
I have never, EVER even considered the Sherrin needing a re-design. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. And if there were to be a change, who's to say it'll be for the better? The way changes to the AFL are going nowadays, it'll be ******!

Don't panic mate! Imagine for instance, a seamless Sherrin. Not made in four portions.
I don't mind the lycra or goal post ideas though, for the record.

Re: Time for a ball re-design?
Nothing wrong with the seams. Players use them to know the position of the ball without having to look down while running. Ive never heard anyone spud up a kick then say "bloody seams! Wish they got rid.of those bastards!"
Also, without the 4 panels of leather, I dare say the ball shape would change more and more with every kick. The thing would be an egg by qtr time.

Underestimated how many people were experts in ball manufacturing technology.

I had a feeling many of us would be experts in ball handling, however.

Not an expert. You raised a question, which got me thinking about it. Might as well state the ball should be improved and then close the thread if you dont want a discussion.

You've obviously never kicked a Rossy Faulkner that was older than 2 weeks....

Talking about Sherrins. Faulkners and Burleys are terrible and they should re-design them to be invisible and never spoken of again.

Re: Time for a ball re-design?
We have a couple of Burleys at footy and everyone refuses to kick them. I dont know if we got duds, but they're about half the size of the Sherrins and long and pointy as shit. Maybe they overcorrected the old ones that were soccer balls.
Historically Burleys float like a mother.
