Maybe it was where a gap was that could be filled with an easy fix.
I think they are lucky to be in Div 4. When we came back from SAFA they put us in Div 6, which was a fair bit below the level we should have been. On the flip side we did go up 4 divisions in the next 4 years, picking up a few flags along the way.
I would think Townies will be in Div 3 in 2017.
hence the question are they getting an easy run & potential flag in div 4, to the detrement of other div 4 sides, when they should go into 3 or 2 and for what it's worth I also think they will be in Div 3 in 2017
Is their position in Div 4 more to do with the opinions of the clubs that Edwardstown should have to earn their way to the higher Divisions rather than be gifted a spot in them?

glass half full or empty could argue point both ways - gifted going higher or easy run placed lower. FWIW my opinion is higher would better determine where they sit, if they do it tough they drop a Div or hold their own and stay, rather than do it easy and win a flag doing out of a chance a team that may have worked hard for years for a chance at a flag and promotion.

Like Sailsbury?
So that's it...? Div 4 is a lock in November the year before the season starts now?
This is getting earlier and earlier every year.
Guess the rest of us can rest up and start planning for 2017 then.

Fair point. I would say there will be a few smiles around the place if Townies don't make it through to the GF next season

But then everyone thought that with the recruits that the lodge picked up for 2015, that they'd be a shoe in.
We all know what happened there.

Correct, with Seaton nominating to stay up as is their right after the Salisbury Cowards pulled the pin on Div 3 the only opening was Div 4 so there really wasn't a decision to be made.
The result is an 8 team Div 4 with two Div 3 clubs in it but those are the rules and we can only really blame ourselves (our clubs) for agreeing to these rules and not changing them at some point when common sense probably suggested we should.
I have a problem. It's to do with the little man, the squashed-in French man, the naked little squashed up hairy boy! You know! With the hand feet

Well there was another opening ... in D7

That is true and it was no secret that Hectorville wanted to stay in Div 4 so they are probably a bit annoyed, im in two minds but Edwardstown would have made life very tough for teams in Divs 5 6 and 7 as they made their way up.
In Div 4 they will be hot favourites along with the other Div 3 club but they won't have it all their own way, in the lower grades I think they would have.

the word "potential" was in there as in could happen was only a scenario but going on WOS form in 2015 maybe should look to 2017 as only mediocre this year
If the top 2 teams in SFL are around div 1/2 standard & with Edwardstown only finishing the SFL minor round in 8th, wouldn't that make them about div 4 standard anyway?

other than Christies and Morphy Parks which they got lucky on a shitful day where they had 8 scoring shots to 16, all the other teams they beat would struggle in div 4 IMO

And your club is...? I see you've got Broughton Mundoora listed, which is like me listing BSR as my grassroots team even though I haven't played there for 19 years.

Come on Pag, lets not start dealing with facts. Thats not how this site works. Salisbury are just soft cowards and every other teams grading was all because salisbury took the easy option.
