Judging by that, Id say there was something in the past!

That almost looks like a Foxtel port
Could have cable there then?

I'm not sure, there's 3 of those ports around the place

Telstra should be able to tell you

For the past 10 months or so we have been suffering from the neighbors and their music. The sub is cranked and it causes all of our windows to vibrate and the fence to buzz... its not just loud its deafening. NYE was just ridiculous. We have rung the police on a number of occassions and they stop for a couple of days and then start up again. The Jnr Jases dont actually like being home anymore and we have to put them into our bed as its not quite as bad in there...

Sh!t sandwich of a situation, there. There are residential tenancies databases, but I think they're dedicated for landlords/agents in assessing whether a potential tenant is suitable and not for the general public.

There's a way of finding out who the owner/registered proprietor of the land is, but you'd need to know your neighbour's name to be of any use to you.

Presuming they do rent, it's a breach of their residential tenancy agreement (also presuming they're under one) if the tenant causes or permits a nuisance, or if they cause or permit an interference with the reasonable peace, comfort or privacy of another person who resides in the immediate vicinity of the premises. Of course, you'd have to somehow prove such interference had happened. Noise impacts can be a difficult thing to prove.

The landlord can terminate the agreement for such a breach. You'd then have to find their landlord/agent and dob them in. Whether they give a stuff about tenant noise to boot them out and lose rental income is the question. I'd say it's pretty unlikely. The neighbour could also appeal to the Tribunal if booted out.

Unfortunately, I think you're in a bit of tough spot. Good luck.

Assuming they are renting*

You could also take them to the Residential Tenancies Tribunal yourself.

Thanks everyone...

I dont feel comfortable speaking to them myself... not that confident to be honest...

Since NYE we haven't heard from them so I think other neighbors may have had a word...

In my experience, it's harder for people to say no when you ask in person.

Yep. I'd be uncomfortable with dodgy people knowing where I live.

Having said that, I think you could take a leaf out of Q's book and approach them directly with your kids and ask them in a friendly and civil manner to 'please turn the music down,' and perhaps explain how it's affecting them. With your kids in tow the dynamic of the confrontation changes, and you're more likely to garner their sympathy. Again, easier said than done.

Yeah I wouldn't expose my kids to people that obviously don't give a f**k.

If the cops have been a few times and they still do the same thing, they're obviously not decent people.

Agreed. I've got some housos two doors down from me in a rental, they popped up around 12 months ago,I'm hoping the lease soon runs out and they move on.

-Yapping dog that gets told to "Shut the **** up" all hours of day and night.
-Crying kid that gets told to "Shut the **** up" all hours of day and night.
-Shit ghetto rap from a shit Magna stereo every ******* time they go outside for a smoke/bong/red can
-They collect scrap metal from hard rubbish and deliver/return home/bang and ******* crash with that in the trailer all hours day and night.
-Drug deals. Thursday nights are great, must be pay day, go buy up big, cars come from 7-12 Thursday night, don't even get out, the housos deliver to the car in the street
-Regular fireworks at around 2am.

I have spoken to them about the dog, the music, the scrap. Waste. Of. Time. Like I said above, hopefully they'll be out soon.

Maybe suggest to some nice police officers to cruise by a few times on a Thursday night. Drug deals from the house is instant eviction.

Perhaps a call to the cops to monitor the Thursday night activities might shut them up in future

Sounds like I'm not the only one with some dodgy neighbors...

As i said though, haven't heard from them for a few days so that is pretty good.

Sounds like I might need the big Q stick ( ;) ) to go round and sort them out if they start again...

The last photo is a Foxtel port.

Easier solution is to find out if this is live - and if it's through cable and not satellite.
If it's through the street (unless you can through sat now), then sign up for Bigpond.
Then you don't need to worry about getting a phone line installed ($300) and setting up ADSL.
There's pros and cons of both (Cable / ADSL) but for the sake of getting it up and running - I would try that first.

I need to know how long insurance companies take to say your on work cover or not on work cover .
All I can say is they claim to have tried to call me October 23
I was on my second day in hospital daughter had my phone no calls
They sent me a letter saying they'll give me money but if they decide no pay it back .
Couldn't understand why I wouldn't say yes to that neither could my employer .
The insurer lied to my lawyer I was in the office was supposed to get the answer in a letter by Xmas day 2015
All I've heard was work saying the insurer needs more time suggested by Friday
This time I told work they lied to my lawyer I was there in his rooms when they lied .

So any idea how long they take ?
And why does work who stopped paying me except for 79 cents into super
