Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017
Now the SFL is a shocking standard. Absolutely woeful except for 3 or 4 sides. But why on earth would Marion be doing recruiting divvvy 7 reserves footballers for $$$$$$ to play A grade footy? Hackham, OSB Lonsdale, Marion and a good number of other clubs playing lists in the SFL are just plain awful. You just wonder how they can keep going as a 14 team comp when only 4 sides are any good.

Agree ditchy and the departure of Brighton and morphies weakens sfl even more. Once a powerful comp is now horrible. Marion, hackham and osb belong in div 7

I just worry how long the SFL can hold on for to be honest. Once a good competition. Even Brighton and Morphies are only divvvy 3 and 4 by the ammos standard. Flaggies, Morphett Vale and Noarlunga would be divvy 2 at their very best. Probably 2 of 3 being divvy 3 ammmos standard.

i see a time when the whole lot is run under one metropolitan league to be honest unless the SFL have two comps

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017
Brighton are better than Div 4 standard c'mon let's be serious. They would be competitive in Div 2. Div 4 was good this year and was a huge jump from Div 5 but Brighton are 1 of the strongest 20 clubs in the entire state where we'll over 200 clubs exist. They would knock over anyone in Div 4 by at least 7-8 goals on any day.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Div 3 looks red hot this year. Brighton will have a challenge ahead of themselves. No easy games in saafl week to week

That's what people think. Reality is that there are no easy games in the SAAFL because of the relegation system. Maybe one bad side per grade.
In the SFL a side only has to be ready to play every 4 weeks because of so many ordinary sides. Maybe 10 sides who are no good out of 16.
Another thing is that when clubs get injuries in the SFL they can rest players for 3 or 4 weeks to get them right for the next tough game
In the ammos they won't get that luxury of being able to bring players back when they feel like it.
The overall depth of each club is tested and an A grade side needs an extra 10 players of A grade standard to get through a season.
That's the big difference between the two leagues and people never look at those aspects. Brighton will struggle to make the finals in divvy 3

Re: Ch9AFL Division 7 - 2017
Brighton have picked up a proven SAAFL power forward in higher grades and one of the best Ruckman in SA suburban/country footy just to name a couple to go on top of their already strong depth. I'd be amazed if they lost any more than 3-4 games for the entire season including finals in div 3. They would make mince meat of some of the teams I saw play finals in div 3 last year. Unlike Edwardstown they actually become a stronger club in the SFL and the top 3-4 teams in div 4 this year I am confident in saying would be competitive week in week out in div 3.
Anyway each to their own, proof will come round 1

2 games between 2nd and 6th last year and the 4th placed team at end of the minor round won the flag, its now a 12 team comp and likely to be 10 team in 2018...but don't let facts get in the way of your argument.

Money would surely be on Marion and Hackham?

Your facts are correct BUT that still doesn't mean it's not a shocking standard of football once you go past the first 3/4 sides AND those sides are no world beaters. Mid divvy 2 and divvy 3 of the ammos

[quote="Dutchy"]Reynella finished 6th last year, Reckon they are an ordinary club?[/quote
No one is questioning whether they're a good club or a well run club or the quality of the people at the club
What we can safely say is that the standard of the SFL is diabolical after the first 3/4 clubs and those 3 or 4 clubs who are reasonable would be no higher than mid divvy 2 or divvy 3 of the ammos. There wouldn't be 2 many people who'd think the standard of the SFL is very high at all

Correct on all fronts old mate. + M.Oldd, + L.Ransley, + R.Rebbah
They must've witnessed the profound change and improvement last years coach instilled into them.
Just kidding. I'm actually staggered Marion offered those lads coin. Absolutely staggered. I love em all but they're not coin demanding football players.
Andre, maybe but he won't train, Hulk, well past it now, Liam is a good lad and so is Ramon and Oldy, but if this is what Porter is putting his faith in then he'll be looking for another gig come round 6. No deference to those lads who are all cracking people but WTF. Plus offering coin, seriously you would have to be kidding. Even if Marion came in to Div 7 next year only one or two would be up to A's. Staggered.

Lurking FB last night as is the norm when bored these days.. must say was really disappointed to stumble across a post a friend shared which informed the Mitchell Park clubrooms were broken into over the break and they flogged the 2012 premiership match ball from the trophy cabinet.
Pretty poor form by whomever did it, hope that MP get it back ok!
