From todays tiser. A few facts (happy to be corrected) re electricity in this state.

A LETTER from Christopher Jay (“Pricey Present”, The Advertiser, 29/12/16) said the SA price of electricity on Christmas Day and Boxing Day was eight times higher than all other mainland states and territories.

I don’t have the data for WA and the territories but Australian Energy Market Operator data for the national energy market electricity prices for those days shows a completely different picture.

Yes, the SA electricity price was higher than in the other NEM states by 1.4 times, but not eight times, on Christmas Day. However, on Boxing Day the SA electricity price was less than in all other states except Victoria and 11 per cent less than the NEM average.

If Christopher Jay is presenting such outrageous data then the source should be referenced. Also picking individual days in a year makes little sense. Annual data is a better comparison. The two mainland states that have the highest electricity prices are Queensland and SA.

Queensland, like SA, has a higher than average penetration of natural gas in its generation mix but almost no wind. Gas prices have influenced electricity prices in both states significantly.

In 2015 Queensland’s average generation price, according to AEMO, was 25 per cent greater than SA and in 2016 the SA price was 3 per cent greater. There is no doubt that SA needs a strategic energy plan with more diversity of ownership and generation – in particular renewable generation – in its power mix, such as added solar thermal, storage plus a stronger interconnector.

However, it is time more accurate information was presented that does not overtly or covertly point its finger at renewables each time there is a blackout or power increase.

The Liberals in SA are non existant at the moment. How they haven't made any noise considering the state of FamilysSA, electricity, some crap floating around Pt.Augusta and every 2nd water main exploding just shows how irrelevant they are. They should be destroying the government at the moment.

Chuck in the sham of a budget and MYBR
ATM, our nett debt is about $700m below the State Bank worst level in 93 and will surpass it by $2Bn next year, and that's only if they make budget which he hasn't got within cooee in the past 6 years.
General Govt nett financial worth as at 30/6/16 was -$2.049Bn. Yes folks, even though the General Govt balance sheet has been financially "managed" to show less debt (SA Water transfer) and MAC raid, they are technically insolvent. Add in a -$213m cashflow last year and -$3Bn over the next 2 years and and the directors of any ASX company would have called in the receivers long ago.
Not the shop assistants though. They sit on Twitter all day and amass personal fortunes
This is evolving into a massive problem for the future of SA. I'm OK because I'm financially secure, but I pity a lot of people who aren't and cannot leave this place when it all hits the fan in the not too distant future

It's actually not a hard call my parents are still angry with me for not voting labor
But liberal Feds hurting pensioners or some of them will turn voters against them
While my legal industrial battle rages on I'm coming into contact with Centrelink either the Feds in that department do not do their homework or are being fed bull poop . I understand how people get slugged for not getting info right when it's not wrong .
For me they are saying they have info that I have my driving licence back when I say it's wrong no we have info services SA said they can't access their computer which says I'm blocked .

What Turnbull is doing is hurting the state liberals
When the two major parties said don't vote independents we did that hurt liberals more
