Definitely learnt evaporative is the best way to go and I've been experimenting since the 80s. Tried both, save hundreds of dollars with evap, basically a trip to Thailand a year and it deals with 361 days of the year fine and I hate the heat. I love being cool but the two years I lived with refrigerated reverse cycle I couldn't believe the cost difference and that was with solar panels that virtually made all daytime use free! Never ever again.
If I lived in FNQ or the NT I'd definitely consider paying the extra though but a complete waste here.
Would seriously consider it with a 2 storey place too but would never get a 2 storey place ever again after I was 19.

Damn thing is working now and we've got an air con expert coming out tomorrow at 8.30am.
Ahh well, I got an 11 hour session at the pub on a Monday out of it, not that I need an excuse.
Drunk as a freaking skunk! I drink more in Australia than I do in Thailand!

Nup, that's why they all just have open plan and big arse fans moving the air around.

Cold dry air inside and hot wet air outside. Your skin would be in all sorts of bother. You'd walk outside after being inside and you'd be wet from head to toe in sweat in minutes.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I would too, only until you acclimatized though.

What are you doing up this early?

Nah the main room.
He needs the mirrors on the ceiling.

Hard to drink champers and keep the cue ball in place at the same time.

I don't often post to this thread but this morning I find I have to.... it took 35 minutes!! for me to travel along Grote Street to Victoria Square... then finding out that Victoria Square was blocked off to east-west traffic
Admittedly I short of twigged to something being up through the delay, but I was hoping it would just be one lane or something minor.

Went to get cash out at the ATM next to work at the Peoples Choice CU.. stood behind this woman who decided to do all her banking via the ATM - withdrawals and deposits - instead of walking inside the automatic doors right next to the machine and seeing a teller in the empty ground floor.

She took literally 10min to complete what she was doing - one card in, deposit, another card in, deposit.. check balances, another card withdrew cash.

WTF is wrong with these people?!
