Songs that remind you of stuff.
The heading says it all really.
For better or worse, music can be the soundtrack to one's life.
I'd be interested to see what you all can contribute.
I'll get the ball rolling; this first one reminds me of my first real kiss. I would have been about 9 years old, and it was at Skateline at Modbury.
This next song will always remind me of the last time I saw my best mate. I walked across the street to his place, and we played this song together.
3 days later, he was gone.

Sung this to both my kids when they arrived onto this mortal coil.

We played this song at our wedding when we signed the forms.

Re: Songs that remind you of stuff.
This is not a good one. But it's the only song that takes me back to specific night in my life.
Alex Lloyd - Amazing.
This is the song my Dad was listening to the first time he attempted suicide in January 2002. He drove into a stobie pole on Pelican Point Rd.
I think the combination of watching him being pulled out of the wreck and knowing this is what he wanted to hear last makes it a tough song for me to hear.
Thankfully he wasn't successful that time, and we had him for another 9 years.

What’s that first track, DW? The link didn’t come through.
Social gathering + James Brown = dancing. QED.

James Brown is The Man. It was HIS world and we were all just along for the ride.
The first song was Beautiful Day by U2. I'm not a fan of the band, by any means, but that song just worked for that day. Perfect.

This whole album reminds me of being 12 and taking my own steps towards a musical identity separate from that of my parents.

Was the perfect song to listen to after the eldest was born. And when she wasn't settling down this would do it by the end of the 1st chorus. Still makes the eyes get glassy 14 years later if i hear it on the radio.

Re: Songs that remind you of stuff.
This song reminds me of me, and my 20-odd years of struggling with depression.
I like the way this song appears to be upbeat, but in reality, the lyrics are quite the opposite.
In particular, this passage gets me every time:
"Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
I tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings"

I'm not usually up on what the kids listen to these days, but wow, this song is really good.
The lyrics are top-notch too.
