He's been playing and doing a bit of coaching at Goodwood the last two seasons I reckon. Was just running fielding sessions I think.
Speaking of Goodwood -
Daniel Payne leaves Adelaide to captain them. Wonder if he takes any with him, seeing as they only stayed up in A1 by yhe skin of their teeth last season.
Anyone hearing murmurs about a rebel T20 league starting up playing in the South Parklands this summer?
Pulteney to completely withdraw from ATCA, and taking their 5 ovals with them. Starting up an 8 team T20 comp to play Saturday afternoon's (2-5pm). 4 games all at Park 20. (5th oval for the School kids). 14 rounds (play each team twice). Semis and GF. Season done in 16 weeks compared to the Turf's 23.
Starting late October to give the footballers a bit of time off. No play on Test match weekend, Australia day weekend and 3 full weeks off over the Xmas-New Years break. Finishes early March before the bad weather sets in.
Test run this season, with a plan to expand to 16 teams next season with games at 12-3 and 3-6.
Will be interesting to see if it gets any traction.
Not really for me, I'm still keen to play as much as possible, however I know a number of people who would love to still have a hit on Saturday's and don't have to commit the full afternoon.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

This scheduling is very appealing I think. Over the years the gap/break between summer/winter seasons has shrunk (at least feels that way), having a couple extra weeks at each end of the season to rest, recoup and recharge the batteries would be a god send.

Don't think it's a rebel league, pretty sure Pulteney (with a few other interested clubs) have taken this proposal to ATCA.
From my understanding POS will still have a team in the ATCA comp but Limited Overs only.

I'm pretty sure its with the backing of the ATCA, will need to get enough clubs to start up the comp
Interesting fixture from the turf this season. Just 1 game in the 41 days from late December to early feb. That's prime time cricket weather where the washouts are unlikely and the big heat in late feb hasn't hit yet.
You'd hate to be a batsman and cop a bad decision from an umpire early in your innings, or worse still, have the top order make runs and you miss at hit. 6 weeks is a long time in the middle of the season to not have a bat! Or if you play in the lower grades, you'd hate for your 1 match to be the round you get a bye or the opposition forfeits!
