Went to a strange funeral yesterday, it truly was more of a celebration of a life rather than a mourning.
The deceased had pre-planned everything, even to the point that on Friday morning when she awoke she said to her daughter "Can you ring Ange and order the rainbow flowers, they're taking me away today" and sure enough she waited until 11:35pm then passed away.
She insisted that no one wore black at her funeral, she bought her husband, 2 sons and 4 grandsons matching tie-dye shirts to wear for the ceremony, allocated a certain person to deliver the eulogies who was quite surprised and had a message for everyone sealed in an envelope to be read last.
The song that played as we placed petals on the casket was "Happy" by Pharrell Williams.
It was a different day, but one that made you appreciate life in itself, they way that you are born and then one day you're not around anymore, what you do in between is totally up to you, how you can respect whatever you have or be upset at what you don't have.
I walked away with a real glow inside of me, a day of total respect for someone who didn't want the day to be about her at all, although it was.

If he didn't mention he'd just got back from Koh Samui, probably wasn't him.

I can confirm that was not me. I slept on and off most of yesterday afternoon, wasn't in any state to be talking to anyone.
Even as buggered as I was, I still wouldn't make such an outrageous claim as to having a "second team".

How is your win/loss record watching the Hawks in the flesh lately?
Poor. Carlton and Gold Coast come to mind.
Excellent. Make sure you get there in plenty of time and don't leave early.

I generally head to the bar at half time and if things are looking bleak... I don’t leave!

I had sciatica troubles for the past couple of months which shoots down my leg and makes umpiring difficult to move around and gave me no incentive to go for random jogs. I'd been getting physio for it which made it feel better short term but then missus insisted that I have a couple of fish oil tablets each morning, the pain has now disappeared. Done two games on Saturday and felt fine afterwards, was struggling to do 150 ab curls at the gym previously and now I'm getting through a minimum of 500 each day without having a break. Who would've thunk, maybe I don't listen enough
The kids and I used to play that a fair bit, it was great for them to learn some geography.
The BIL's a scientist who specialises in plants and ecology. Not sure what his actual qualification is. So when he was showing me, I was like "Looks like (insert somewhere in the southern hemisphere)" and he's like "Nah, that tree only grows north of Colorado, etc."
So while I was looking for signs, etc, he could tell roughly where it was based on the f**kin trees.
I still beat him by 10,000kms over 5 (3 minute ) rounds

So he thought he had the wood on you? Did you ask him to leave?

She's been doing 4 days a week at a Barbering College all year and 3 shifts per week at Hungry Jacks to help fund the training ( it's expensive! ).
She's just been offered a job at one of Adelaide's top notch barber shops, I am stoked for her. She's skilled, loves what she's doing and has ( as demonstrated above) an exceptional work ethic.

Tears. So happy.
As already mentioned, so stoked for her mate. Absolutely magnificent stuff!
Will make my way in for a "short back and sides"
