The saying "in a better place" kind of fits here.
Cheers lads.

Sorry to hear Booney.
We found out yesterday our mid 80s neighbour has about 2 months to live. His missus and daughter are not going to tell him though (he knows he's terminal but doesn't know how long to go)

Sad news indeed Booney. A good reminder to all of us to look out for your neighbours, and those alone/isolated etc.

You’re a good man Boon, people like yourself would have been Bazz’ reason for going as long as he did

Sorry to hear Boonster, it's the downfall of drinking at locals and getting used of the old blokes around the place, it seems a whole lot emptier when they're not in their usual seat anymore.

Just realised I should be having a pre-match beer at the Holdy now before heading across the road to Glenelg/Sturt season opener, followed by 5 games of SFL Round 1 v Wineflies at home tomorrow

Weather would have destroyed the crowds for Round 1 tonight!!
(but if footy did resume in few months time and got weather like this, we would have been there with bells on!!)

Re: Things that make you sad.
Yep was ment to be round 1 for us tomorrow, this is usually one of the most exciting and hyped up times of the year for me going from cricket finals and straight into footy and I absolutely love round 1. It's going to weird being at home all day again tomorrow.Dutchy wrote:Just realised I should be having a pre-match beer at the Holdy now before heading across the road to Glenelg/Sturt season opener, followed by 5 games of SFL Round 1 v Wineflies at home tomorrow

To add to what CM said, the working bee epitomizes what a true community does, it looks after those who genuinely need it.
Sorry for your loss, but know that your efforts made Bazz's life that bit more bearable.

I have never looked forward to coming to work as much as I did over the weekend.

We painted the rumpus room on the weekend, I watched Mrs Boon tape up skirting boards and do some cutting in. How do you think my weekend was?

That sounded riveting.
I was planting some shrubs and I chopped a worm in half as I was digging a hole, for the rest of the day I thought how I wished I was that worm.

Did you give her much advice?

I did. I wouldn't say she was receptive to the idea.

Real sorry to hear mate. Always sad to lose someone close, but to not be able to say a proper goodbye would be a whole other level of devastation for the near and dear of the departed

Re: Things that make you sad.
Thanks JK, the positive was we could watch it live and it was well done so in a sense felt like being there, hard bit for my wife was when the FIL was distraught and couldn't console him. Being school holidays the kids could watch it also although they (& I) won't miss his big greek man kisses

Re: Things that make you sad.
Today was meant to be our final day in the country before a 6 week holiday of a lifetime.
Has been so tough watching the daughters so disappointed, heart absolutely breaks for them.
Have tried to make the best of the situation by putting even more value on family time (in saying that we use our time pretty well to be honest)
Who knows what the future now holds, I’m a big believer in things happen for a reason and the sliding doors theory of one bloke eats a bat my world changes. Don’t know what the plan is from here but we are all determined that our life is only improved because of this.
