Malinauskas is entitled to call for a suspension of the medi hotel program until they get it right. Marshall and Malinauskas are pretty well aligned on this issue.
The best system would be a purpose built facility with medical onsite and the staff to live on site and then undertake quarantine themselves but it’s very, very hard logistically to make this happen

Bang on the money. An effective government would find a way to implement this.

The Greens are flat out assembling the lynch mob for the SAS.....Bandit wrote:Howard Springs NT is just one of many defence assets Australia has that could be used. There are heaps of remote area bases with landing strips but yes some have been associated with "boat people" in the past so it wont be a popular decision with some people (Greens etc) to use them again.

Just like they did with the boat people. Glad to see you’re onboard with it now

It’s actually not the airline’s responsibility to check eligibility. The onus is on you to have the correct paperwork when you arrive. On our last flight back from Sydney with Qantas there were about a dozen folk who hadn’t done it and they simply filled out the form on arrivalJimmy_041 wrote:I read a piece by some lady who said they were tested before getting on & wouldn’t be allowed on if positive.
She said the security this end was laughable
I thought it was pretty good when I came back from Sydney other than Jetstar didn’t check whether I had a permit to enter.
Mind you, the Jetstar staff at check in in Sydney didn’t care about much other than if your luggage was overweight
