Have shown some ticker this morning so far.
We aren’t going to win but hopefully we grind out a dull draw and end the Vics season

SA 333
Vic 365
SA 9/329
The match is called off at tea with both captains calling an end to the game.
This then means South Australia win our fourth Shield wooden spoon in a row. 9 of the last 12.

When your opening bowlers are averaging more than 40 that's pretty damning.
I'm genuinely shocked by those bowling stats.

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2020-21
The bowling is diabolical
61 wickets out of potentially 140??? Even if its 120 if the Brisbane game is included in the 7 games thats still shocking

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2020-21
The stats AE has posted are very evident SA still has alot of work to do to be able to win matches and get off the bottom of the ladder.
For awhile this season I've felt like it's been a high scoring season and with more runs means higher averages and strike rates for the bowlers so I was thinking of ways to show if that was true or not so with th view I've done some analysis.
(Plus I wanted to see how SA compared to the rest of the competition).
Across the competition this season so far there has been 80 innings batted, 35 times a team have made 300 plus, 12 times team have made 400 plus, 6 times teams have made 500 plus and once Queensland made 600. Only twice teams have been bowled for under 150 (both were NSW)
SA has made 300 plus 8 times.
I was going to look at an average runs made per dismissal and average runs conceded per wicket for each state but the MyCricket ladder for the Sheffield Shield that shows that information is not working for me.
This season 14 players have made 500 runs, last season there was 9.
This season 3 players took more than 30 wickets and with another 4 taking more than 20.
Last season there was 5 that took more than 30 wickets with another 8 taking 20 wickets or more.
Batsmen who have made more than 500 runs and bowlers who have taken more than 30 wickets by season-
20/21- 14 and 3
19/20- 9 and 5
18/19- 14 and 11
17/18- 22 and 12
16/17 23 and 8
This season of the 19 players who made 400 runs or more 15 averaged 40 or over.
Last season of the 19 players who made 400 runs or more 10 of those averaged 40 or over.
This season of the 18 bowlers who took 15 wickets or more 9 of those averaged under 30.
Last season of the 23 bowlers who took more than 15 wickets 15 of those averaged under 30.
(For this I did a minimum of 100 runs and 5 wickets)
WA had 6 batsmen average 40 or more and had 1 bowler average under 30.
Victoria had 3 batsmen average 40 or more and had 3 bowlers average under 30.
Tasmania had 3 batsmen average 40 or more and had 4 bowlers average under 30.
Queensland had 5 batsmen average 40 or more and had 3 bowlers average under 30.
NSW had 3 batsmen average 40 or more and had 3 bowlers average under 30.
As seen above SA had 4 batsmen average 40 or more and had 0 bowlers average under 30.

Not excusing our players entirely but a Karen Rolton pitch with a smidgen of life in it would be handy

Head (A+)
Hunt (A)
Carey (A)
Lehmann (A)
Kerber (A)
Nielsen (B+)
Weathers (B-)
Hunt done very well in the toughest position, hard to judge Kerber on one outing but you can only make the most of your opportunities, Nielsen showed promise for a developing player, hopefully he continues to grow as we'll see less of Carey before too long.
Lehmann had a nice return but batted when the heat was out, would love to see him with them returns batting at 4 or 5.
The bowling numbers are embarrassing, we need a Siddle or Bird to spearhead our attack. On a bright note, at least the bowling returns were poor across the board.

You’re too generous mate.
They finished bottom not top.
I know it was mainly our bowlers but stats don’t show when batters made their runs.
Not enough runs when the heat was on.
