Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2020-21
TA entered the SS comp in 1977-1978
This is the relativity of what I have termed a 'general rule'
Listed is number of titles won 1977/78 to 2020/21
The populations as of September 2020
11 NS 8,166,369
10 VI 6,680,648
9 QL 5,184,847
9 WA 2,667,130
3 TA 541,071
2 SA 1,770,591
If we swap TA around with SA then the the states with the highest populations have won the most SS titles
These are the winning % in all games of head to head games of SS played since 1892/1893 season
NS 42.75
VI 38.80
WA 35.20
QL 31.75
SA 27.54
TA 24.51
Very similar population relativity to title wins
These stats can be twisted to suit arguments
One such is there were 3 states that played each other early on NS/VI/SA
Without delving into the win/loss ratio of the 3 teams, I would say that NS/VI % of all time wins might be higher by often beating SA ???
When each state started
1892/193 NS/VI/SA
1926/1927 QL
1947/1948 WA
1977/1978 TA
You only need 11 players to represent teams in Domestic or International cricket[ 11+ if you count the 12th man/or concussion rulings]
Due to this small 11 representation a smaller populated state can win a SS
However the higher populated states still have an advantage of sorts
That is simply because there is a higher pool of players to pick from

Watching Labuschagne get dismissed illustrates to me how much of a flogger he is.
Yeah, you played a crap shot but honestly, you're a dead set wanker.

Agree, even Lyons carry on had 'dickhead' written all over it. Threatening to go bowl from the other end because a decision didn't go his way, and this to one of the countries most respected umpires Blocker Wilson.

I didn't watch any of it but I know where you're coming from, I used to love him just going about his business early in his career, new missus, new nickname, new state and a new hair don't has turned him into a bit of an arrogant sook too.

I just can’t warm to the bloke.
Obviously a very good player but just looks like a wanker!

Re: Australian Domestic Cricket 2020-21
Hearing couple of names Redbacks have given offers to join them:
Jake Carder from WA - handy batter, but think plenty of better options around - rumour is offered three year deal on good money, would make him one of the top 6 paid in the state - really, WTF??? Are other states knocking themselves down trying to sign this bloke, I doubt it. Don't know why I am surprised
Brendon Doggett from QLD - this one I like a lot - bowls 140km plus, played in Shield Premiership, chuck in Steketee back and he likely misses that team. Our bowling was deplorable this year, and he would be great get. Good move this one
Doggett and Renshaw both targets, but would they leave QLD after just playing in the winning Shield final, I am unsure. Conway missed the team for NSW due to their bowling strength and still being targeted too.

We can ruin any of their careers.

Don't think his numbers are that much better than Bosisto?? I may be wrong but don't think he's a world-beater that's all of a sudden going to improve the Redbacks dramatically??
Doggett would be very handy inclusion though.

We need an all-rounder.
An Abbott or Marsh type.
I know they won’t come but worth having the conversation.

Hot off the press on SACA website:
West End Redbacks Announce List Changes
SACA Media
South Australian cricket farewells champion Tom Cooper at the conclusion of the 2020/21 season.
The West End Redbacks advise that Tom Cooper, Will Bosisto, Brad Davis, Conor McInerney and Luke Robins have been delisted following the 2020-21 season.
“We felt that these difficult decisions had to be made with a focus on improved results going forward,” Head Coach Jason Gillespie said.
“This announcement will afford us the capacity to take a renewed approach to recruiting this off-season, as we hunt positive results in the coming years.
“We thank Tom, Will, Brad, Conor and Luke for their fine efforts on and off the pitch and wish them well for the future.”
Cooper’s South Australia career ends with over 150 games played and more than 8000 runs scored across both formats.
The 34-year-old made his SA Sheffield Shield debut against Western Australia at Adelaide Oval in November of the 2008-09 season, and he made his first List A start against the same opposition just three days after the close of the first-class fixture.
The right-hander was in the 2011-12 One-Day Cup Championship team and played an integral part throughout as the tournament’s third-highest run-scorer.
Cooper joins Callum Ferguson and Chadd Sayers as SA’s first-class veterans who will not be playing on.
“Tom, Callum and Chadd have all made top-class contributions to this State, and again we thank them for their efforts over a long period of time,” Gillespie added.
“It is now time for us to assemble a rejuvenated list and continue to shape Australian cricketers."
SA will announce its 2021-22 contract list in the coming month(s).

Ferguson, Cooper, Sayers, McInerney, Davis, Valente, Robins, Bosisto, Drew, with question mark on Mennie as well due to his family situation in UK.
Don’t know who they replace all them with - Kerber and Gibson apparently will get one.
Rumours still about Conway and Renshaw coming here too.
So from this rumour, looks like Drew and Valente survived.
Had heard they were only going to give out one year deals to locals in future which I agree with.

Surely they have 2-3 ready to sign already based on all the de-listings.

Absolutely brilliant season for the SACA, now have to find the cash to pay Travis Head after being cut by Cricket Australia from their central contract list!

That contract list is a joke. Basically a "white ball" list, don't give a crap about the Test players. So many average cricketers who can play 20/20 a bit get a full contract, makes me fume

Tend to agree with you, there is only 4 Test batsman contracted plus maybe Alex Carey as the 5th.
But on the other hand she's going to be red hot for those extra 2 Test batting spots.
12 points and they get a contract anyway which is 3 Tests. Maybe theres something in that. Those other 2 spots get 2 Tests to prove theyre up to it and CA dont have to contract them if theyre not. Might not be such a bad thing since we dont know who they are. Likely that Pucovski and Head/Carey will get 1st crack imo

I think you are spot on there Daisy, they want to put pressure on players to perform and not hide behind a large contract, play enough games and end up with full contract anyway.
