Hello morons, viruses mutate, you aren't dealing with the Alpha variant anymore.

The current vaccines were not designed for the Omicron variation, they aren't as effective on Omicron compared to previous strains, WHAT A SURPRISE

not ******* rocket science
So if the vaccine isn't suitable for omicron, why are we required to take it?
The virus doesn't change that much it does provide some protection not as much as the Omicron designed vaccine will

There is also some Delta around which is the bad one

A lot of vaccinated folks are getting it. It's what happens next that demonstrates the merits of being vaccinated.

Periodic reminder of vaxxed v unvaxxed ICU admissions: currently in NSW, you are 13 times more likely to be admitted to ICU with COVID-19 if you're not vaccinated (2 jabs):

A lot of vaccinated folks are getting it. Hence why they have changed the narrative. You were "fully protected" not long ago. In fact, somewhere I've got a video of all these people saying "You're 100% protected" and then 12 months last saying the opposite

It's what happens next that demonstrates the merits of being vaccinated. I dont dispute that it has merits (remember what my doctors said?). My question is what are the long term effects of these experimental drugs? BTW; that question is made by the TGA as well. These drugs only have provisional approval because they dont know what the long term effects are

Just a head cold I think, astounding that I don't have it considering my symptoms. Runny nose, dry cough, hot/cold, lethargic, was 100% convinced I had the vid.

I know I will cop some criticism (from one in particular) but had we kept the borders closed and used all the money that the government spent on PCR tests, RAT, staff at testing stations, infrastructure etc, him many hospitals could have been built and funded over the past two years to the benefit of the country?

Well, unless you had the money up front to begin with you have to wait two years to build the cost of hospitals into the budget, if not longer, or borrow the money to do so.

Then you need to find suitable sites. Then the design process. Tender. Award contracts. The nRAH was in developmental design phase 6 years before the doors opened.

In the meantime you have only two years to train specialists, doctors and nurses to staff the hospitals. Then you need to have the equipment procured, MRI's, kitchens, beds, wheel chairs, every thing you need to manage a hospital.

My guess would be somewhere around 0.

Agreed the logistics would be difficult however there is government land, green space and empty buildings everywhere. No lengthy tender process, just get it done.

Funds, everything they are doing now has been funded straight away so somehow they have the funds available.

Repat has been worked on for ages, that should be a fully working hospital by now.

I’m not trying to be critical of any government or people just that in the end for all the money spent there is no final benefit

Agree with the philosophy in that after 3 or how many years of our Covid era we don't appear to be in any better position to deal with the current crisis or any potential other pandemics in years to come, especially in regards to infrastructure. To be honest we don't feel that much further forward now despite a 80-90% vaccine take up.

Based on Weatherald's Snellings et al's previous attempt at a new hospital we'd be lucky to have a hole in the ground and be already over budget by $I Billion over spent...

Check that we'd still be in the planning stage and going through some tribunal due to something of significance (a tree Governor Hindmarsh's Missus pet Daschound "Bob" p!ssed on back in 1839) being lost, still be over a $1 Billion over spent though.....

Issues in the medical/hospital area has been mentioned for at least the past three decades, this could have been an opportunity to fix issues for the next few decades.

It’s similar to “rent money is dead money “ in my eyes.

Maybe I have my head in the clouds.

It hasn't, future generations will be paying for Job Keeper and Job Seeker for years.

I'd be all for more hospitals, more schools etc etc, but are you happy to pay for it now and for ever more? Hardly on a winner politically if you said income tax was going up and up for ever to pay for all this.

Increase GST and on everything, won’t be popular but politics shouldn’t be about being popular, just a good leader. Lead well and people will follow.

Start taxing businesses and people who make millions but never pay much tax.
What about churches?
What about Scomo’s mates?
That alone will fund a new hospital!

Taxing churches, would solve it instantly.

They can claim deductions on their actual charitable works like the rest of us have to.

Them still having a blanket exemption is way past time to be changed.

Will never happen of course, but we can dream
