I've been thinking and I've come to the conclusion private health insurance if your healthy is a complete scam.
"Pay us $1250 a year and you get $750 of dental services"
what a great deal!
*Makes sense if you do it for tax purposes though.

r
exactly the reason I've never had private cover. I've had 4 sinus ops, all in private hospitals and paid cash for them all and still wouldn't have spent anywhere near the amount i would've been charged as a premium each year.
My new Mantra - I am no longer available to things and people that make me feel like shit

My wife had two hip replacements 12 months apart with one of SA's top surgeons and made to measure in Switzerland hip replacement devices.
It cost us $600 in gaps and the fund paid $40K for the two top class replacements.
"Insurance" is just that spent money now to benefit when you finally need it. It is like insurance your house or car in case of unexpected disaster.

I plan to be 30 years away from needing a hip replacement
I think its just a government scam to try and trick young people who are profitable for health funds into getting insurance.
I know a couple through work who have young children that choose not to have private cover as it will curtail their social life & travelling.
Good luck laying your head on the pillow at night…

It's taken 7 weeks but I've come into work today to a bawling woman, surely it's too early for that sort of shenanigans. The joys of working in an office.
Miss working in a pub some times.
Give me some drunks throwing stools over this anyday.

It's tough one. As a family of 4 (2 young kids) we pay $7k/year for top cover. I almost never use it, but my wife has ongoing neck issues needing constant physio, chiro etc. Probably still doesn't cover it. Our young lad is adopted from Korea, so we have next to no information about his biological family history. So we're paying premium now whilst we can afford. But it is so pricey. We did get some benefits when our daughter tried to arrive at 31 weeks gestation. We ended up going into Flinders Private care and that was $1.5k/day and we were in there for 2 weeks at no cost to us (was in the public for the first 10 days).

Not all bad, got to meet Steve Hocking and thanked him for looking after my daughter. He had a lot of good words to say about her too!
Lovely chap.
And yeah I might go a stout. It's not getting warmer!

Could of if I was going to the Hope Inn but it was a bit far to walk to the Halfway.
Once the bus got past Chief St it was all smooth sailing anyway.
Need to put that bloody tram all the way to Port Adelaide.

Too far away, they should get rid of it
