Re: Australian tour of India 2023
The BBL ( more so the timing) completely and utterly roots up our test program. It has seen the demise of shield cricket in December and January when players need the longer format.Corona Man wrote:I think most of us can accept a loss. But to be completely and utterly outplayed in every department (including planning and selection) without as much as a yelp…..
A few thoughts.
I heard John Bucchahan interviewed before the game. One comment he made, was to be successful in India, you need to accept what you are given. Don’t try to swim against the tide. I get what he means, embrace the challenge. Did we do that?
A few years ago we had a training camp in Dubai to acclimatise. Why did we not do that again…. Was it so our test players could play a bit of T/20 and chill out before the AB Medal? Remember these blokes are on 6 and 7 figure wages. Where is the preparation or investment back into their games, to justify their pay packets.
Selection bloody diabolical. Yes a few injuries did not help, but the injuries were known before they left.
Game play… bowling plans to their bats. I couldn’t make one out as a viewer.
Pitch. No problem with them preparing a spinning wicket. We expect that. The partial preparation of certain areas is in the least questionable. But the BCCI rules the ICC.
My mate Davy. As a keen follower of the game for over 50 years, I’m not sure I can watch another minute of that selfish prick ( let’s undo and re do up the gloves every ball) stink it up. If he gets the nod for the 2nd test, I think I’m done.

Must have a left arm spinner, Lyon struggles anyway, Head gives a 2nd off spinner.
We all know Warner wont be dropped, has an agreement with CA to keep his mouth shut and they in turn will keep selecting him until he decides he's had enough
However I would pick Nathan Lyon.
I would drop Peter Handscombe.
Bat Alex Carey at 6 and play 5 front line bowlers and Green if needed for a few overs.
Reason being
Australia is 0-1 down.
India currently hold the Sunny/Grumpy troph.y
Australia needs to win this series by winning 1 more test than India.
You then work out who needs to take a lotta wickets for this to happen.
The most likely is Nathan Lyon who is Australia's most prolific off spinning wicket taker of all time.
Forlorn post though I think Australia will lose 4-0 , unless India get 2-0 up and provide less spin friendly wickets when draws are enough and $$$ for 5 day encounters .

Cant see any changes
Pat the Rat at a presso said that there wont be many if any changes for the 2nd test as they believe it is their best 11 they fielded in the 1st test and they have faith in them.
Got to love Pat the Rat, like to know why he wasnt sitting with his team late yesterday when they were getting flogged but away with the high performance manager

Re: Australian tour of India 2023
Are we, including myself, just a bunch of sooks? Been too spoilt?
We have been smashing teams all summer and the past few years.
We play the hardest home team and get pantsed. But it’s only one test.
I get it’s not just that we lost but it’s the way we lost. Played as bad as we could, almost as bad as the West Indies did against us this summer.
Let’s give them another crack to see if they improve, select the correct team, get a couple of injured blokes back, maybe not win but be competitive against the best home test nation.

I daresay WE (forum) majority thought we'd lose the series. I had India winning 4-0.
We played rubbish. But the leaders didn't set a great example. I don't think Cummins is all that great when things aren't going his way.
Those surrounding the team said it was the best squad since 04 to tour there.. if I recall correctly. What absolute rubbish that is.
And yes, we all agree that losing isn't a bad thing. But how we lost in such uncompetitive fashion is a national disgrace.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Re: Australian tour of India 2023
If you told me before the Test began we would get Pujara, Kohli and Yadav out in the 1st Innings for a combined 27 runs, well I would have thought we would be in a strong position. We can bounce back, with the right selection and attitude.Brodlach wrote:Are we, including myself, just a bunch of sooks? Been too spoilt?

2. Given the strength of RSA's pace attack the Gabba pitch wasn't particularly to our advantage, heading in to the match. Also I hardly think the board wanted a 2-day test. Just a howler from the grounds staff.
thanks for the advice
Dont get what? Media claimed a doctored pitch pre-game, it ended up being BS, then all goes quiet, imagine if the Indians did the same to us?
