The first yellow in the 4th minute was a disgrace. Blokes takes a mark falls to the ground, and whilst his down the BL defender gives him a little knee borderline kick to the head. Only very light but completely unneeded and not in the contest.

Geez you make him sound like he tried kicking his head off

In other news, I head a rumour the Brahma coach set the tone for the day pre-game giving the umpires some choice words and feedback when they came to say hello before the game.

Reckon Braden Hart watched some WWE in his time though - cops the nudge to his right shoulder, suddenly grabs at his lower back, rolls around and as the umpire approaches hold the left side of his head - opposite to the nudge :D

Could be a bit of feeling in the Mitchell Park / Hackham game this week. About 5 or 6 former Mitchell park players lining up for Hackham. A few words getting around. #titanic

Only feelings will be love

Those players are still mates and once a Parky always a Parky.

They'll be back ;)

Grand Final Preview this week with OSB traveling to the Paddocks to take on Para Hills. My tip is Para Hills by 3-5 goals at home. The Roos have talent on every line and a couple guys like Weetra who just aren't D7 footballers.

Of all the sides in D7 they are the best placed to impact D6 in 2025 with 4 senior teams, good facilities and solid juniors. The gap between the lower Divs and the mid-tier Divs seems to be getting larger with clubs like Mawsons, Mitchell Park, Hackam and Flinders Uni being stuck in D7 for a very long time, with the longer they stay there making it harder to attract players, coaches and volunteers, and move up. Smithfield obviously have just restarted this year but this has happened before, and Brahma seems to cycle between D7-D6 and have huge player turnover each year.

Last kick of the day like last time to win the game.. but this time slots it. That would be epic.

What's the long term viability of D7?

8 team division, top 5 finals, and half the sides with less than a 50% win ratio. Only one of those clubs (Para Hills C/D) has a 3rd senior side, so depth will likely always be an issue.. and Para Hills you'd think wont be D7 next year.

It’s been like it for a long time now, 2015 only 7 teams with a final series of 4 teams. Unfortunately the 8 teams have to play somewhere without disrupting the 10 team divisions. OSB and Para Hills would go up you would suggest and Adelaide Lutheran and Elizabeth should come down. Most D7 clubs traditionally can’t fill C grades and the A/B/C games played together has ended C grade teams playing in the Div.

I think its complicated.
Results in the southern league haven't been completely one-sided, so we're not likely to see another side swap leagues like Marion and OSB did a few years ago.
Unfortunately, you have teams like Brahma, Mawson Lakes, Para Hills, Smithfield and I guess Elizabeth next year all within pretty close distances which makes recruitment difficult. Same goes for Flinders, Mitchell Park and Hackham. Competition for playing members is tough.

Where would you put all these sides in the C grade leagues?

I think the bigger issue is the yo-yoing of clubs between D6 and 7.

I've always viewed Div 7 as a bit of a "Barleys" type division.

Clubs sort of bottom out but still exist, it's a chance to re-load and work out where they are going wrong if they have intentions of reaching higher grades, alternatively it is a place for clubs that don't want to chuck cash around and have enough interested people to stay afloat and provide a place for people to play footy.

Kudos to Fluni, they've been there for as long as I remember with minimal B Grade forfeits, they seem a pretty happy bunch out there.

The bottom division is always going to be like this isn't it? If for some reason it ceased to exist then Div 6 would soon take over with the same issues.

Gotta throw some respect out to Central United, would've been so much easier to limp through this year with the aim of finishing ninth to be able to move down to div 7 and rebuild after giving a heap of kids a taste of A Grade footy, add in that it will be a relatively local comp next season too.

Bill and the lads should be proud of what they have achieved so far this season, they're miles ahead of where I thought they'd be.

The challenge for Units will come when team Fenwick decide to step down from the work they do across 12 months and two sports.

Massive problem for a lot of clubs, too much left to too few. Players dont seem to want to help anymore and if that means the club folds - they dont care they'll move to another club. So old club people like Fenwick keep going on every year just so the club can stay open and do more and more every year with less and less help. A club like Units with minimal juniors and struggling for 2 senior teams dont have the volunteers available and seems to be a bigger problem with the lower grades of people wanting to help out in my opinion. Players move around so much and dont have any real love for the clubs they're at and looking for the next pay cheque or next possible premiership instead of building up a club
