Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 7
Agree LM. The 8 team Division 7 of recent years created the dilemma of maintaining the integrity of finals and the promotion process by ensuring certain aspects are locked in after each team has played each other twice.
But clubs still want/need a 16 to 18 game season so the last 3 rounds, that are in effect "classification rounds' for the top 4 and bottom 4, can still change ladder position for the top 4, but also keep some of the bottom 4 interested with the battle for 5th spot. Some very good lateral thinking by the AdFL in coming up with this model.

Agree with this mate.
To know your entering into a somewhat fair and equitable contest in the last 3 rounds of the season should keep players engaged and connected. It can be hard enough to do at the best of times so can only imagine that a few div 7 players might find other options/commitments/excuses on a Saturday late in Winter when the writing is on the wall.
Whilst i don't think the 5th placed team in the A grade has a snowballs chance its still great to play finals and they may even pinch one.
Div 7 does provide an interesting Reserves ladder. If I'm being honest its the first time i have looked this year but it doesn't necessarily align with how A grade clubs are performing.
In essence the format created is going to facilitate 7 of the 8 Division 7 clubs playing finals. That is great for the division.

Hearing some talk of UniSA telling Mawson Lakes that they need the oval and will need to find a new ground.
Any truth in this?

Hypothetically if it was a Hackham/OSB GF this year, where do you think it would be held? St Mary's?

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 7
Hence my question, does the AdFL apply the same rules for the Southern teams that they do for the Northern?
That being said if (big if) it happened it would be huge down this way, Id go along as a neutral and Im sure many others would also. Probably get more than the SFL GF!
Its great to see these clubs having some success.

Doubt it! Eastern Park vs Salisbury at Centrals - kidding yourself.

Out of curiosity and i don't have the stats but has the southern clubs had the same number of issues/incidents in grand finals as the northern clubs.
I genuinely don't know the answer BUT if there was a pattern that a range of clubs from a select region had 'more incidents' would it be unreasonable for the league to act only on that region.
It is a shame though a Salisbury vs EP Grand Final at Central Districts would be epic and provide a great atmosphere (provided there was no incidents). Hopefully one day we can get back to seeing GF's closer to the participating teams.

Yep, that'll be at Kilburn at the very closest.

It would, sadly it's not the clubs - its the "neutrals" that need to be considered.. an EP v SAL grand final in Lizbeff would attract every man and his dog within a 15km radius.. and plenty that would be on the cans early and all day.

Yeah sadly true......does reflect on the region however though.
Sadly the only and safest option is what the AdFL is currently doing.
