FWIW, 13 from the last 13 attempts going back to 1996.

Completely dominating the comp.
Another great win by Norwood, their class rose to the top when we controlled clearances. This team is better than 2022, but so are a couple of other teams. A fantastic effort to get to the clubs' 55th grand final, win or lose. Rawlings is doing a great job but I'm hearing Tasmania could be calling for his services.

Yeah, that was a phenomenal record and most importantly, often backed it up 2 weeks later.StrayDog wrote:Yep.Aerie wrote:This may have already been mentioned, or it might not be true… but was this the first time Central have lost a 2nd Semi Final this century?

I agree with you Hazy. Watched you in both finals and you keep coming no matter what. Anyone who beats the Dogs has to play some bloody good football and Norwood did that. Glenelg favourites yes, but not a walk up start.Hazydog wrote:Like a good wolf I’ll bite. If we’re miles off then god help the rest. So easy from the cheap seats.. no one gave us a chance against Sturt and we proved them wrong.. A Glenelg v Norwood GF will be a beauty!

Re: Second Semi Final - Norwood v Central District
Yep. Haven't watched a lot of SANFL footy but I thought this team is better than the 22 model. Disposal a worry in the first quarter but full marks to the Dogs' pressure. I went to Centrals v Norwood two years ago and yeah Centrals miles better than they were that day. Glenelg and Sturt have looked pretty sharp as well. The Blues would be gutted with their efforts. Thought they'd be the main threat.Robedog wrote:Well, funnily enough........mighty_tiger_79 wrote:Norwood should be next team in AFL

He (was forced to) changed the game plan midway through 2022 to win the premiership or that was it.dedja wrote:Weren’t there a few calling for twig’s head midway through last year? Like some of these coaches, he wanted to prove his game plan wasn't wrong (Buckley and Hardwick were given ultimatums as well) so they
win a premiership but go back to the plan they want to prove. There is something very wrong when your HBF are the biggest kick getters - mainly waxing between themselves. The forwards sit there twiddling their thumbs with 3 extra backs in the 50 whilst the HBF line and onballers do circle work between themselves
The first game in 2023 against WWT at Norwood was appalling. Back to early 2022 game plan. I stopped going half way through last year.
Much better game plan this year. Very direct and they actually want to kick goals
Points for:
2024: 1491
2023: 1053
2022; 1276
I really hope we dont go back to Bassett unless he's changed. It was a war of defence but the only casualty was football worth watching

Didn’t they create some bullshit role for Bass as backup in case they needed to give Twig the arse?

The SANFL app has the Legs count at 55 hit outs, against the Central combination at 29. My perception was that Boyd had a bit of an 'off' day (or that the Centrals lads negated his usual effectiveness); regardless, was surprised to see this statistic. Murley with 3 goals playing forward was a bonus.

Re: Second Semi Final - Norwood v Central District
Boyd absolutely destroyed them. Most of his taps were to advantage and set up multiple goals. His clearance work was phenomenal. Easily in the top 2-3 players on the ground. Reckon Billy just edged himGary McAish wrote:The SANFL app has the Legs count at 55 hit outs, against the Central combination at 29. Re: Second Semi Final - Norwood v Central District
In the first half I reckon the Dogs onballers setup well around him and probably got hands to his hit outs more often than our lads did. He’s a bit of a behemoth though and seems to get even better as a game wears on.
