Glenn & McMullen big outs, look to be rolling the dice playing Clements as well. Heard he was only a 50/50 chance for next week if they made it. Fitzroy missing their Captain but some quality kids playing may help the run. Should be a lot closer than the previous games but Eastern Park should get over the top by about 3/4 goalsThe Bedge wrote:Anyone give Fitzroy a sneaky chance Sat?
Lost by 79, 46 and 66 over the season, but in the QF did have 7 scoring shots to 5 in the 1st - EP with 5 straight - and kicked 3.7 in the first half..
EP remind me a little like Lockleys back in the day - they don't mind a shoot out, don't care if the oppo kick 100, as long as they kick 101.
Should be a reasonable match - do Roys have anything left, or did they play their final last week? Can Eastern Park achieve promotion and a GF berth like they've deserved all season?
One thing is for sure, despite a lot of lopsided games during the season, the top end of D6 this year has been pretty good footy.

NEVER underestimate Fitzroy during finals, they seem to pull an extra level of everything from nowhere.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Went and watched Eastern Park / Fitzroy on saturday
Eastern Park always seemed in control and were able to kick 2 or 3 goals whenever Fitzroy got it back to a goal or so. Fitzroy had their chances but just burnt the footy going forward. Red card didnt help from a young fitzroy player in the third. Must've just been for abuse as didnt see anything or any Eastern Park player too upset with him. Red card for abuse seems a bit excessive without knowing what was said.
Bit windy at times but wasnt a great spectacle however most finals seem to be that way
No surprise in the B's with Lutheran getting the job done and wouldn't be surprised to see them upset salisbury
A grade, toss of a coin even though Salisbury won all encounters this year, close games both times at salisbury so the bigger oval at Elizabeth may not be the advantage everyone thinks.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Good assessment. We were disappointed with our turnovers by foot, think it was 49 or something. Were happy we stuck at it though, came back from 4 goals down twice, but probably too taxing to win that way in the end. Interesting to see if the FB from Eastern Pk gets a week for his yellow.Purple Warrior wrote:Went and watched Eastern Park / Fitzroy on saturday

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
I don’t care who wins Saturday, and wish both clubs the best of luck.
Real winner is D6 next year coz we just p*ssed off the two most dominant D6 clubs in a long time
Nah all b*sh!t aside, two clubs that were head & shoulders above the rest from day dot. You can talk money and payments and blah blah.. but they set themselves a goal, they did what was needed, and they got the result they set out for (so far).
Kudos to them.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Surprised it hasn’t come out here yet, but Cotter to Elizabeth next year - Fitzroy in the hunt for an A grade coach again.
I see Para Hills are advertising as well as per their constitution.. hate that shit. Wonder if Forby would be tempted to look at the Fitzroy role given his son plays there and they have an exciting list.

Rips off shirt and performs a Haka pre game, out coached Salisbury all day and gave an awesome 3/4 time address that had the EP community running through walls.
Anton best on ground!
Came down to contested footy and EP were just better footballers. Great win

Congrats to Eastern Park, kings of the North in 2024
Slightly off topic but I've heard nothing but positive feedback about the club's behaviour on and off field over the duration of finals
Between that and Jax the internet sensation, they've achieved great things this year,

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Congrats to Eastern Park, deserved winners - played far better on the day.
I'll admit, I was wrong.. I thought Salisbury were going to be too good, I thought the oval would hurt the Demons, and I thought they'd be too quick for them. I do think though that Salisbury saved their worst performance for last.. which makes me wonder what could've been if we had no shit the bed against St Paul's.. but oh well, wasn't our time anyway.
Yi Yi should've been best on ground though, would've had close to 40 disposals across half back. Mansell was massive as well, he's such a smart footballer - the way he reads the ball and uses his body.
Best of luck in D5 to both clubs, I will miss Knappy talking down EP's chances every week on here though. It's been a fun year in a lot of aspects, I've enjoyed the banter between clubs.

2025:
1. West Croydon
2. Blackfriars OS
3. Fitzroy
4. Ingle Farm
5. St Paul's OS
6. Houghton
7. Rosewater
8. Adelaide Lutheran
9. Para Hills
10. OSB Lonsdale
Looks on face value a more evenly spread division across both A/B grade.

WC, Blacks, Fitz and even Rosewater (maybe Luthies can go in this pile)
Ingle Farm, SPOS, Houghton and Para Hills
Good for travel, unless you're Sullies

How's the big fella going that went to jump the fence after the game only to land and snap his ankle to the point that there was a big chunk of bone poking through his sock?

On that note no one seems to reporting any crowd misbehavior. If so brilliant stuff by both clubs and hopefully a pathway back to seeing some more local GF's in future.

I've got to say, whilst I know these comments are meant in a positive light, but can't help but be really irritated by them both. An feeling of condescendence to them.whufc wrote:On that note no one seems to reporting any crowd misbehavior. Also it annoys me that these need to be said - there has been nothing this year, last year or any immediately recent years that suggests behavior to the contrary. It shouldn't even be mentioned. The fact it's taken the AdFL this many years to realise that things change, clubs chance etc. is frustrating enough, let alone having people pat clubs on the back just coz they behaved themsevles.
Reality is, there just was no need for it. For the comments, the positive feedback. Both clubs conducted themselves in the way that is expected of all clubs - that should be normal, not applauded.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League - Division 6
Eastern Park deserved to win no question
Salisbury had a horrible day. Broken Ankle 10 mins in, broken collar bone in the second quarter, finished with 16 fit players and tried to run it out but was always going to be up against it after half time. Not sure if outcoached as mentioned by someone but probably not too many options to be able to stop the momentum. EP targeted some blokes and i guess when you win you say it was a justified game plan, no doubt their coach is a good motivator but not sure it will be as successful going up the divs if they all are playing next year as plenty at the ground were saying coach is quitting and plenty of players on the move again. Actually hope thats not the case and the club can try to push back up divs instead of going up and down every few years. Kovacic or McMullen medal winner in my eyes but i dont pick it
B grade was all one way after quarter time and Salisbury thoroughly deserved to win. As mentioned also by someone else f*** Lutheran
Cricket season now anyway, time for a break and do it all again next year
