Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
Dont begrudge Mt Barker from being able to hold the Grand Final, but the ground is terrible to watch at, as mentioned the moment you walk back from the fence the outer side drops away so visibility will be shite. Have seen a couple ANZAC Day clashes there and its difficult to get a spot on one of those games let alone with 9 clubs represented. Wish Mt Barker all the best for holding the day and all the teams making an appearance. Dont think I will make the trip to watch, would have to park at the new Woollies at Mt Barker South to get a park!

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
I believe Lobey didn’t want any finals as they are doing some work on the surface. Might explain why it wasn’t looking great. Definitely the best venue!
Echunga probably next best.
Chance to give Mount Barker some money back to pay off the debt the council hit them with? Although they hardly need it with the extensive sponsorship options and being the only club in the regional city.

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
Hahndorf take the premiership, with just 6 goals tallied for the afternoon
3.14 to 3.9
Only drifted in and out of watching it on the live stream. Nairne pushed hard late to try and pinch it but 'dorf held on.

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
I was there for the 3 middle games, 16s was a great game to watch, Baker nearly pulling off the upset. Lofty way too good for the talented Blackwood team who were undefeated - that's 3 losses for their u18's in the last 2 years, 2 of them in the GF's!
Echunga B's pull off the upset against Hahndorf, A grade won 1 game for the year and B grade won the flag, great effort.
Barker put on a good day, all games put a high price on contested footy, with the windy conditions and small ground. Thought the crowd was down on recent years, maybe the venue put a few off?

Well done to Barker for the food and drinks on GF day.
And what a game, the intensity and pressure impacting the scoreline, wasnt pretty but good tough footy. Well done to Hahndorf, their dynasty continues and cant see them or Nairne going backwards anytime soon.

I see Call of the Wild are no longer commentating the games. Who is going to be taken this over in 2025?

Feel a bit for them. A small town punching well above their weight. At least it will get rid of the byes in both divisions

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
As has been posted in the SFL thread, Michael Handby, the new coach of Blackwood, has done some cracking recruiting from his former club.
Baker, Miller and Mills-Richardson come across with him from Morphett Vale. Key forward, key back and key anywhere, 3 very good pick ups.

They have some great people there, trying their best to ensure the club is successful, this potential move makes sense.
Have to think for a club to come back up to Div 1 it would need to be a merger with a nearby club, Kangy, Meadows, Maccy & Echunga all within ~15 min drive of each other, if 2 or 3 of these put their resources together and did it the right way you would think they could be competitive at all levels in Div 1.

Why would flaggies want to join the country league when they are winning flags in the SFL.
Good move from Echunga to move to the country division. It would be good for the club to have some success
I hear a few of the members in the Hagens Arms saying its a bit tough in the main division.

Why would a club that at worst case scenario play in the D1 prelim go and play Hills D2? Makes absolutely no sense.

it would be silly for flaggies to move to the country division of the HFL. The standard of the SFL is appalling but even the SFL is stronger than Country Division 2. Makes no sense
