9 hours at the QEH yesterday after blowing my left knee out Saturday night at Grinspoon. Lateral meniscus* in my left knee. FFS.
MRI this morning ( finally )

Radiographer - When do you see your GP?

Me - I don't, surgeon on Monday. Why, am I dying?

R - How did you do it?

Me - I explain ( She laughs, calls her colleague in to hear the story. They both laugh )

R - There's a crack in the head of the fibula. Been walking on it long?

Me - Did it 4 weeks ago, been walking on it for 2 weeks.

Why did you wait so long for the MRI?

I got an MRI on a shoulder about 10 years ago. When filling in the forms, I'd ticked that I'd never had an injury to the joint

As she's doing the scan, the lady asked me "When did you break your collarbone? It says on your forms you've never injured your shoulder"

Turns out many moons ago I'd cracked the shoulder end of my collarbone and it healed crooked. I wracked my brain for hours trying to work out how I did it, I think it was an old footy injury

Took a week to see the GP then two weeks for the surgeon to send me the referral.

Despite some discomfort (quite a bit at night by the time the day is done) I've been walking on it for 2 weeks and I did it 4 weeks ago, not sure they'll bother.

No wonder it was sore after I mowed last week!

Are you saying the GP referred you to a surgeon without an MRI?

If so, seems back to front.

Yes, that's exactly what happened.

GP referred me to the surgeon, that office took two weeks to get to me with a referral and it then took 4 days to book in the MRI. My GP said if he referred me the MRI would be very costly, when I went for the MRI this morning I was expecting a $635 ( $385 back on Medicare ) bill, I paid nothing as it was bulk billed.

When Doctors pushed and prodded the painful bit, told you to toughen up as it's probably just a bit of bruising or a small crack (assuming it is not the coccyx ;) ).

Take two asprins and call me in the morning

The pain will go away.

And they were right, all for less than a Caroline...
