Trial Games 2026

Post by wristwatcher »

Would be interested to see who, where and when clubs are playing trials?

Also Salisbury North play Broadview on March 14th and we are looking to hire someone’s oval as both club have cricket on their respective ovals. If anyone has an oval or knows of one please let me know.

Long way away, but Lonsdale have their oval 24/7 if you get desperate. It is free on the 14th according to my information.

Thanks mate, appreciate the offer. I have been PM'd and been given 3-4 options but it would appear a few clubs don't like free money as i haven't heard back. We have a committee meeting tonight so will follow up and let you know.

I reckon that weekend would be the Gaelic Football Hannigan Cup Final so the ground won’t be available or set up for AFL yet. St Paddy’s Day on the Tuesday so the GF used to align. Not sure if it still does.

Ive had that many phone calls requesting assistance with ovals on the 14th - including our club.

Even I've exhausted my channels.

Last round of cricket - it's going to be almost mission impossible - unless clubs that are playing on their ovals, are willing to start earlier and let other clubs piggyback on the back of their games.

We're supposed to be playing SMOSH on the 14th and Mitchell Park the following week

Yeah with Gather Round and Easter you’d think most clubs would be having a trial on 14th and cricket finals all over the shop. Our boys are undefeated and their GF won’t be until 21st assuming they make it.

Bit of an eyebrows raise in seeing your Valley of Hope playing a Div 7 club that didn’t play finals. Only a trial I guess. We played Glenunga last year in a trial last year which they won and we beat them twice in season. We took care of TTG pretty easily in another trial and they won the flag. As long as it’s a competitive hit out and teams stay major injury free it’s probably all good.

Don't even get me started on this.

You and me were both raised by the Garry McIntosh rules of Trial Matches.

I dont think any of our mens side will make cricket finals (dont quote me on that though, im pretty clueless where cricket is concerned)

Wow the 28th is early. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I rate the Friday night trial and might try and get out to that to see who will be holding aloft the Podzuweit Cup!

It's our As and Bs vs Not so Hopeful Valley Bs and C's pretty sure

We also played finals

No Morgs, it'll definitely be A's and B's.

I get that we're a completely unknown quantity after last year but there is absolutely no benefit in playing a club that's 3 grades below us.

Will be good to catch up with you though 8)

Not what we've been told which was predominantly Bs and C's with an A grader or two. Probably wouldn't have agreed to do it if it was the full squad as you say, that wouldn't make much sense, especially when we'll be light on having to travel over the border.

Welp, will be funny regardless.

I'll be somewhere between Denmark and Esperence in WA unfortunately!

Haha pardon me.

So for accuracy. MPFC did finish 5th of 8 with 7 wonderful wins and finished percentage ahead of second bottom having played the last month against the bottom 4 teams for a 3rd time in the season.

I stand by my comment that a team that was in Div 3 last year could find a more appropriate opponent than a team that finished in the bottom half of Div 7…. But at the end of the day it is only a trial

You will pleased to hear that when the pre-season show goes to air I haven’t tipped your beloved Lions to make finals. Looking forward to seeing if you can prove me wrong.

Played a game at MPFC last year with SHOC using your home ground and happy to say the new facilities are outstanding compared to what I remember from the dog box away change rooms.
