Is this Sticks Phillips last year????

Post by RM »

After reading a few recent articles in both the Budget and Advertiser, I think this maybe Phillip's last year.

The Budget has the coaches comment on the hardest part of the job and Sticks answer was "finding time".

Another comment in the Advertiser recently also regarded finding time to do the job properly.

Well, I look into my crystal ball and see him stepping down at the end of the season.

Enter Broadie........Oh god help Sturt!

NostraBAYMANdamus predicted that Phillips would be
sacked at the end of this year several months ago.
He also said they might finish bottom this year as well.

lets hope sticks can get the players up for some more W's this season and beyond. With a bit of $$$$ and are usually on target recruiting, he should get us back in the finals in no time :D

It could be Sticks last year. He is a premiership winning coach and at this point he is 1 of only 2 current SANFL premiership winning coaches. He can call it a day with his head held high.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

He will not be sacked.

The decision will rest entirely upon whether he has the time due to work and family commitments.

I think that Fuller, is the only coach currently in the system who can be regarded as failing to deliver the coveted Cup to his side.

If Sturt were under lesser well crediantelled people they would not have remained as Competitive in 2003-04-05.

We won the Holy Grail against all odds and opposition pessimism in 2002.

I hope Sticks can stay on at Unley and slowly educate Brodie into the System.

Remember, Sticks was 39 when he took over at Sturt.

He is a passionate leader who hasn't had any luck with AFL requirements, injuries at crucial times to the vital links to the Sturt chain etc.

Give him a viable budget to work with and he will deliver the results.
Avid Sturt supporter and SANFL fanatic.

sticks should be given 1 more year, let him groom the young players that are coming up so they get experience from a league coach

Agreed, I think Sticks should be given another year. Oddly enough, I seem to remember saying that last year. Time might beat him this year...

I think Sticks is a great coach and has done absolute marvels at Sturt with the little finances/recruiting they've had.
It'd be a shame to see him go only to have someone else step in if Sturt suddenly get some finance again and reap the rewards (similar to Jar's timing).

Nup, if anything the opposite, things have progressively got tighter for Sturt.
