Nice ball by Hauritz then good knock by Freddie.

Agreed Rod, a very very sporting gesture by the England captain.

2 good series but his averages over his career are not that of a great allrounder and are only marginally better than the average one.

I can definitely see us losing this test, ala Adelaide.

Come on Australia. You just need to keep your heads and play out a full day of cricket. The batsmen are looking very shakey at the moment. I'm not sure we are going to get out of this one.

Even if we last with only 2 wickets down tonight, given our collapses in the morning sessions in the last 2 innings, I don't have much confidence.

Please, please prove me wrong. Show some of that Australian spirit.

No mate. A sporting gesture is not claiming catches you don't take.

Warnie's telling it like it is about everyone's favourite umpire

Agree. I've found Warnie to be the most insightful commentator of them all, and they all are pretty good commentators, too.

And thankfully Rudi did Manou a favour by signalling that as wides. But it should have always been anyway.

hooray ive been looking forward to this since i saw the lbw appeal turned down last night and even more so after i read the paper this morning.

whilst the decision when bell was on 20odd was clearly out the not out decison that warne was going on about and now the papers is embarrassing from the australians. if there is anything we have learned from hawkeye is that if the ball is any chance of hitting the stumps then hawkeye will have it hitting. when hawkeye has it missing chances are its missing and for warne ti keep complaining about it for the next 10 minutes was terrible on his behalf. people want the introduction of technology to help the umpires yet if the technology was used then this decision would probably still stand as not out.

it is hard enough for the umpires when they make mistakes (which clearly rudi has been doing) but when they are still getting attacjked for decions that technology show to be right its a bit unfair

Pup do you think Bell should still be in?

No i thought he was LBW last night but i also thought Clarke was out LBW in the teens and i thought we got away with a couple of others over the journey so i don not complain over 50/50 decisions on the other side.

some very good common sense from you there pup

2c worth from the Dedj ...

We can go on about the umpires (or just Rudi) till the cows come home, sportsmanship or not from Straus, how good or not Freddie is, whether Haddo or Manou is better value to the team, whether Mitch is strike bowler or a flash in the pan, whether Mr Cricket has used up his 9 lives, or Watto's hamstring, etc, etc, and I've joined in for some of that fun ... but at the end of the day, if you give this series a cold, hard sober look, then there's no doubt in my mind that the Poms have played the better cricket and deserve to be in the position they're in.

Doesn't mean the Aussies can't rebound and play out this test strongly and then take the series ... just that right now, IMO the Pommy bastards are playing better and smarter cricket.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Too right Dedj, well said. All this whinging is very pom-like. Not that I'm guilt free there!

The difference has quite simply been accurate, well disguised swing bowling. In our two major collapses, that's been the major factor, and those two collapses are the difference in the series so far.

Now come on you Aussies. Backs to the wall, save this test, then get stuck in!

I can't believe all the hype surrounding whether Binga will be ready for the next test, Stuey Clark is the closest thing we have to McGrath and must be included.

Hussey needs to make runs tonight or i think hadden can come in as he can play as a batsman and his finger should be okay.

I've been so proud of Graham Manou as our South Aussie skipper. Footwork and hands have been sensational. Great work Choc!!
I think people are seing how good he is, a couple of those one handed takes in the early overs last night were sensational.

Tough to beat Haddin averaging 80 with the bat.... but will make life interesting if Haddin misses the rest of the series and Choc shows the value of having a better keeper than batsman!

what do people think of the potential of haddin coming back into the side as a batter, where he can rest his finger somewhat in the field and let choc keep the gloves,. haddin has been our best batter and if north fails tonight? what do people think?
