Let's just play for a while.. ideal outline: hopefully SA continues on it's current path of no cases.
Restrictions ease early.
Trial games allowed 20th June with no crowds and no BBQ/Canteens, if that goes smoothly then; Round 1 starts 27th June with no restrictions in place, perhaps stagger the season start so say bottom few divs start 27th and rest 4th July.
Play 9 rounds, start finals 29th August for bottom divs and 5th Sept for higher divs. Play all prelim/grand finals at Thebby, Kenilworth and maybe another suitable ground that doesn't have cricket from 12th Sept - this gives cricket 3 weeks before 10th October to get their wickets ready. 10th October, The Bedge strolls out for round one of cricket and takes a lazy 4/25 and hits a scratchy 40 odd.

First line of that article states training is set to start from the 18th of may, yet so many clubs have already started. Not really an even playing field.

Are those already training just a group of 10 mates getting together for a run around? Or are they an official club session? Can't stop the former, the later shouldn't be occurring.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

As a matter of policy/health it shouldn't happen but no one in their right mind could be worried about any competitive advantage being gained.
10 blokes kicking a football together 7 days earlier than anyone else at any level (looking at you AFL) but particularly at community level offers no advantage to anyone.

10 blokes can easily go have a kick round together on a Saturday morning, easy done. Though I'd love to know how some guys are doing it on weeknights without the aid of their club's lighting?

Surely there is a bit and tongue and cheek in this comment. Blokes/Mates from almost every club would have been having a kick and a catch as well as potentially some running/weights etc for the 3-4 weeks let alone the last week.
As has been said as long as it's not a club directed training there is no issue.

Wouldn't it only be club officials who have the ability to operate lights? Can't imagine Average Joe walking in off the street would have the access and/or the ability to turn the lights on whenever he feels like it.

I might be speaking for a minority here but im astounded at the negativity around trying to get football underway. Whilst I understand people are concerned about loss of income crowds etc I think we all know the SANFL and the government would have plans to support this. I would have thought people would be hanging to get out have a kick and get back into it....what`s the alternative ?? sit home and mow the lawn 4 times a week? Maybe its a sign of the times but football used to be a major part of people lives who would jump any obstacle to get out on the field.

Maybe some players are realising they may not get paid to play.
Imagine having to only play for the jumper, the club and the love of the game..insane right?
