Anyone know why Adelaide Lutheran aren't hosting these matches and instead it's being played at Mitcham?Bluedemon wrote:Saturday 27th August

Ground is generally out of bounds in the week leading up to the show I thought - (possibly also unfit for use too)

Surprised how many aren't aware of the Regulation change in the off season whilst admitting I wasn't either until the women's finals commenced. ALL Grand Finals and Preliminary Finals are now to be played at neutral venues with paid admission for entry.

I must say that I thought I was going senile when my daughter had to play a prelim @ Kilburn Oval, I always though it was GF's only.

They did it last year when the men’s finals were reduced to just 2 weeks due to the July Covid issues. The league is committed to keeping club fees as low as possible so revenue made from gated Prelim Finals ultimately benefits all member clubs.

I don't mind paying to watch finals provided the money is genuinely feeding back to the community clubs in some shape or form.

Where else is it going to go? If the club gets the gate it goes direct to them and if it goes to the league it goes in to the overall revenue no matter where it is……

I thought it might have been at Price also because the Grand Final for Div 7 is going to be played there

Price Memorial is in terrible condition, the woman's Grand Finals were a mud bath two weeks ago
and any more rain it ain't going to get any better.

It was like it improved as the day went on.
I seen some footage from an earlier game and it looked terrible, it didn't seem to be too bad for the Div 1 GF, I was surprised, I was expecting it to get thoroughly chewed up.

No one has been on it since the Woman’s finals. No training allowed. It would have been rolled and cared for by now so should be a lot better.

Interesting - drove past at the start of week and still looked in ordinary knick - seems this year it's getting bought up alot more the state of ovals? nothing wrong with playing in a bit of mud during a winter sport

We are becoming a precious sort, players have become accustomed to playing on good hard decks with quality irrigation.
Remember how bad ovals used to get 15+ years ago.. grounds with traditional centre wickets that would turn into absolute slop.. grounds that wouldn't drain and had heavy traffic.

I think we've had more crappy weekends this season than most others recently. I usually only get soaked once or twice a season, copped a few this year.

It's funny isn't it, there's some great pics from 20+ years back of grand finals at Payneham and Hectorville without a blade of grass on the deck

I remember playing at PNU one day in the C grade, and copped a shove in the back as I ran in off the back of the square and went sliding halfway across the square

I remember playing at Goodwood one day where every step you sank to your knees when running and I have long legs. The rain was torrential. That was back in 86
