Re: 2015 Grand Final - Eagles v West - Sun 27/9/15
Sets up a pretty interesting final, the two best teams of the year playing off. Looking forward to this one.
I've got plenty of mates who are long suffering Westies fans and know quite a few Eagles, one in particular who is very close to the club and one of the board members, I'd be happy to see them happy.
Gut feel at the moment says Westies.

Re: 2015 Grand Final - Eagles v West - Sun 27/9/15
I've thought all year that the Eagles were the safest option, their best is excellent but their worst isn't terrible, they are pretty consistent with their form and are well drilled.
However, I've also thought West have the potential to be the most explosive .. Almost like a group with some much potential I wondered if they realise how good they could be.
Would be quite confident in my tipping if it were any matchup other than these two.
Will lean toward the Eagles with their experience, and the fact that defensive prowess usually wins the bigger games, but Westies are right in this and a win wouldn't surprise me.
Let's hope that both teams are healthy, and that Westies longer run without a break doesn't cause them any issues. If both of those hold up it's hard to see this game not being close.

Re: 2015 Grand Final - Eagles v West - Sun 27/9/15
Eagles v West was the matchup for last year's U/18 Grand Final.
Are there any players on either side's league team who would have played in that game?

WWT $1.40
WA $2.90
The line of 17.5 seems a little generous for westies doesn't it?

Me too. However, the Eagles have been the best side over the year and will be hard to knock off. Hopefully it's a tight contest.

SO going from 38k to 25k would be a good result in 12 months?

Re: 2015 Grand Final - Eagles v West - Sun 27/9/15
Contrasting styles of football on offer
West Adelaide who play attacking enterprising football
Woodville West Torrens who have seemingly adopted the Bassett/Warren game plan of defence
Could be this sort of match
WWT getting numbers back in defence to stifle West Adelaide
If WWT defend well enough they should win
If WA attack well and pierce the WWT defence enough they should win
I have a soft spot for both sides
Hopefully the best side on the day wins without any misfortunes

Am I right in saying West and Torrens have never played off in a grand final before?
Quite extraordinary if true as they were both very strong sides over similar eras.

That's correct. Also, West Adelaide never played Woodville in a grand final. ;-)

Haha, I wondered after I'd posted whether they'd ever played in a night final. Seems like nothing gets past SA Footy.

I can't think of too many years when both West and Torrens were strong.
As we have said ad infinitum one of Port, Norwood, North or Sturt played in every Grand Final up to 2000.

Was thinking more of the era from WW2 to the early sixties when both/either sides regularly made finals, made a few gfs and won some flags.

In the 40s and 50s, both sides had their moments of strength.
It, kind of, even knowing the fact that has been quoted ad infinitum, is surprising that during that period they didn't play one another.
