I was going to ask this actually as to me it seems outstanding.
The last time I played A Grade (properly) was 2011, I can hardly even imagine myself competing with the guys playing nowadays. They all seem fitter, bigger, faster and stronger than even 5 years ago.
Not sure if its just confirmation bias but I'd say 2016 D6 is a better standard than any other year I've experienced it.
Would agree to an extent Morell.. I reckon the top end of years gone by (CLG/Westminster 2014, Rosewater 2014/15, BOS 2014, Lockleys/Smittys 2015) would be ahead of this division comfortably imo, however I think the middle and bottom tier sides are better than they have been in the past. Far more even division this season than in the past from sides 3-10
More mean the average footballer now in D6 is actually a pretty good athlete. There aren't that many fattys, oldies or really youngys anymore like there used to be.
Teams seem much more physically imposing.
I could of course be making all this up in my head.

You love playing down Mitchell Park and their ability don't ya!
If you had a little more polish, and a more settled side you could be well entrenched in the top 5 at the moment - most of your loses haven't been large amounts and a lot you've probably been in winning positions..
D6 this year is a far better standard than last year though as well - well rather it's more even between the sides at least.
No I don't love playing us down Zartan. I'm a realist and our best footy is OK but we average 17 shots on goal and concede 30. Lutheran kicked 10 goals to 1 in the 2nd quarter. Game over, we have a go but can't do it for the whole 4 quarters. IF we had more polish and IF we were settled and IF etc, etc. Fact is we are where we are because we that is what we are.

You are correct. I see a few lads occasionally who come out to games or train with us who used to be considered or were regular "A grade footballers" and I look at them and think they'd struggle to get a game in the B grade now let alone A grade.
Definitely fitter sides and more depth in the teams - across more teams - and less "easy wins" on offer than previous years.

I reckon West Croydon would be about on par with last years front runners, and almost as good as Rosewater '14.

Just an observation, but I reckon we're seeing more young lads going to the gym these days, taking a little bit of extra care of their bodies, while the PT industry seems to be flourishing, and a lot of those blokes would be footballers. I wonder if that sort of thing's filtering into local footy and that could be part of what you're seeing in this grade.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

For sure, I'm sure the easily accessible tablets nowadays is a contributing factor also.

Very interesting and you could very well be right. The old "get shredded for stereos" modern phenomena.
We're living in such a vain and vacuous society. No doubt this is reflected in football.

There is a tablet to make you a better and fitter footballer?!?
Where are they, how much and whats the limit on what you can buy?

Roids are as accessible as nurofen in today's society.

IMO most of the reserves sides in this div would comfortably win 7R last year over NP. The step up in ressies is enormous...it's impressive. You learn quick..
