I know that Pooraka have links to both clubs, we've lost a few solid B graders and some fringe A graders in the past. Theyre very keen to throw cash around, and sometimes job offers. I wouldn't be surprised if stolcman ends up there again this year, not too sure of anyone else from ttg, the younger lads seem to want to stay in the grade system. I have heard theyre after a keeper which could see them poach jai bailey from ND again

Disappointing for Northern to lose three good cricketers such as these. Not easily replaced I would have thought.

Hearing around the traps that one club is being very aggressive in approaching under 18 players from rival clubs. Be interested to see how said club would feel if other clubs approached their better junior players in the same manner! and they have some real talent in their ranks.

Would be no different that what other clubs have tried on theirs already. All clubs do it I'm afraid weather we like it or not. Because the grass is always greener on the other side apparently......

Heater i wouldnt say all clubs do it.... We have some players at Junior level float between TTG, ND and ET but neither club actively poaches them. They normally move due to disgruntled parents but some have genuine reasons for the move.

Actively poaching U18 players and offering them A/C grade games isnt acceptable IMO and all it does is cause a shit fight to get them cleared and the kid is the one that is affected the most!

It depends on the needs of the club. If you are deficient in some aspects of your playing stocks and you can see another player down in the pecking order at his current club then of course you are going to try and get them across to your club.


Keepers and spinners seem to be always approached for this as it can be hard to dislodge the incumbents at your club if you are up and coming.....

There are a few that have gone on to bigger and better things after changing clubs, look at Nick Benton to Port (stuck behind Chad and Carl), Danny Irvine and Matt Nobes played crucial roles in the bays tilt at the flag the other year (not 100% why on the moves), Harry Byrnes-Howe to prospect (sees him in the top 3 or 4 for the chaz walker each year). its healthy and may allow a somewhat struggling club to be competitive, and there is certainly nothing bad about trying to play the highest grade possible. I hope jace and reills go on to bigger and better things at port, obviously not against TTG though! in saying that, these guys werent kids when they made the move.

Cant agree sorry Heater, if they are 16years old, they should do an apprentership rather than change club for instant so called 'opportunity'. If the players are U18 they shouldnt be approached by another club IMO. Once they have played a year or 2 of seniors and can see where they fit, then fair enough if some change club for opportunity.

Easy for kids to be dazzled by a club that comes knocking, tells them how great they are, being held back by their club etc.

It's where the responsible parents should step in, not allow their kid's head to be filled with shit and instead encourage them to earn their spot. Unfortunately some parents are hearing exactly what they want to hear. Are actually more immature than their kids.

I've always been of the opinion that if a player doesn't want to play at your club then you're better off letting them go. You just need to do your best to provide an environment that they want to play in and have success. It is certainly disappointing when a young promising player leaves after the amount of time that is invested in to them, but it creates opportunity for somebody else who really wants it.

Good point, each club should communicate a pathway for the talented young cricketers they have at the club. Sometimes and Tony said, other clubs offer the world quicker and the players take their word. I still think U18s should be off limits from approaches by other clubs

Grade clubs simply shouldn't be trying to poach players at that age. Once they're 18+... no worries. Fair game.

SACA are committed to 3 years then it will be reviewed....

Looks like some of the Zadow review recommendations are going ahead immediately.
