Re: SANFL Club Finances
Just got the South annual report and looks like they made a loss of 160k but still have net assets of almost 6 mill.

Re: SANFL Club Finances
My reading of the loss is that much of it is the 'Footballers Club'.
Significantly less Pokie Revenue - virtually the total $160K
Do you read it differently?
I notice Bar Revenue is down too - wonder if this correlates with the removal of the TAB facility?

Not sure, I"m hopeless at reading those things (which is ironic as I was going to be an accountant at one stage).
And reading it online I just skimmed.

Only an "information" night telling us what they'd done and then answering minimal questions showing nil respect to those who tip money into the club year after year.

Yep. Clubs take their everyday supporters/members for granted often and it nearly always comes back to bite them bigtime. When will they learn?? (Obviously not just referring to the Bays)

Re: SANFL Club Finances
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE BOARD
At the Annual General Meeting held on Monday 15 December 2015, I updated members on a number of important matters affecting the South Adelaide Football Club
First, it was with considerable regret that I advised the meeting that our CEO – Commercial Operations, Mrs Trudi Hower, had submitted her resignation due to a health issue. Trudi had made a significant impression during her three months in the role and will be missed. I have sincerely thanked her for her contribution to our Club and wished her well.
Secondly, the club has recorded a loss for the 2014 year of approximately $443,000. This is a significant sum comprised of both a blowout in expenses and a below budget income performance. Losses incurred over the last two years have eroded reserves built up over the previous five years. The Club’s balance sheet remains very strong, but the assets are illiquid and do not assist the tight trading conditions experienced this year.
On the back of our significant on field improvement during 2014 the financial result is particularly disappointing.
A process has commenced immediately by the Board to identify and appoint a new CEO - Commercial Operations within the parameters set earlier this year.
In response to the deterioration in the Club’s financial position, the Board has implemented a revised management structure, sought to reduce costs and will focus on growing traditional club revenue in membership, sponsorship and fundraising activities with the aim of returning to a profit position in 2015.
I urge all members and supporters to get behind the Club.
The senior playing squad is in full training, bursting to get back into action and continue the improvement that they displayed in 2014.
Please sign up your membership for 2015 as soon as possible, get your friends to do the same, consider whether you can become or introduce a sponsor of the Club or assist in another way.
All of us at South Adelaide are in this together.
Our club needs your support now.
Go Panthers!!

Was the illness stress related ? $1/2mil is a big big loss for a club that size
How on earth do they realistically hope to turn it into profit next year
Starting with such a low supporter base you can hardly blame the AFL Reserve factor.

Same thing happened at Eagles, no interest in pressing the flesh and selling it over a period of time, just used the old mushroom theory as usual!
Chairman gets away with too much like the last one did! Poor

I always like to look at the cash loss - what was the loss after you remove depreciation

How can anyone blow their expenditure in the current economy? Its the one thing you can control.

In all seriousness, though, that is really what people need to start doing, more. Using their clubs' facilities...
Living in the Eastern suburbs, it's difficult for me to make Central's my 'local' place to go regularly when looking to socialise or have a meal...
But, I had a meal at the club last MOnday night, prior to the AGM later that night, which would have been the first time I'd spent my money at the club since probably August or September when the season was still going...
I enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much, that I was back there on that following Saturday night. It was my Dad's Birthday earlier in the week and I had arranged a surprise dinner with my 4 other brothers and their families. Usually we would go to Cafe Primo or a local pub out in the Northern suburbs, but I thought it would be good to have it at the club...
Everyone was well fed, had a great night, put some money over the bar and through the pokies. More people, that don't go to their SANFL club as often as they should, need to start taking their patronage back their, but taking others along as well...

We go there for family birthdays quite regularly. We always think we get a decent feed. Same as most pub meals.

Re: SANFL Club Finances
I was dining at the CDFC
A savvy woman plonked herself at my table
She invited me to her 30th birthday party the following week
I said " Can I see you tomorrow instead?"
" Nah you cant."
" Why Not?"
" Cant, its my turn to babysit the grand children."
Ive dined at the club and can recommend it
