Hey @Jimmy_041, can Sudes borrow one of your Bentley's for a few weeks?Pseudo wrote:Had a bingle in the car on Tuesday's commute home. This is shitworthy in and of itself, but mundane enough to not warrant a heartfelt peeve in this thread.
Logged onto the insurance company website to make a claim. It recommended a couple of crash repairers to take the car to for assessment. One was at Port Adelaide (read: not local) and the other company appeared not to exist when I googled it. So I diddled with the parameters of the search and it recommended another one to me, much closer to home.
Went there yesterday morning, had the car assessed, "it looks worse than what it is" was the comment. Needs a new bonnet and a few panels replaced, and some paintwork. They immediately booked the car in for me...
... in bloody OCTOBER.![]()
After I'd picked my jaw up off the counter, the bloke explained to me that that was the size of the backlog, and that he'd been turning away tow-in jobs all morning 'coz the cars would need to be left for months before they could look at them.
Still - OCTOBER?!?
I see a gruff phone call to the insurance company in my future, in which I plead to be sent to another crash repairer for assessment. Though I fear that upsetting their apple cart might make things worse.
Rant over. I don't feel any better.

If you have select your own repairer option then you can do what you wantLightning McQueen wrote:Hey @Jimmy_041, can Sudes borrow one of your Bentley's for a few weeks?Pseudo wrote:Had a bingle in the car on Tuesday's commute home. Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
That ^ is the most sage advice on the matter. If I had exercised that option I would not be going through this rigmarole right now. I wasted the better part of an hour today, on the phone with an insurance droid who almost completely failed to determine if I could swap to another repairer. I'm going to have to ring around the insurer's preferred repairers myself and see if there's a better option - although after today's interaction I have severe doubts that the insurer would be able to make the change seamlessly.Jimmy_041 wrote: If you have select your own repairer option then you can do what you want
When this utter shitshow is over I am going to negotiate new policies - possibly with another underwriter - and I'll happily pay extra for the right to nominate my own repairer.

The new set of lights on Park Tce across from the Aquatic Centre.
No doubt lobbied for, by the good residents of Fitzroy and Thorngate but every morning I'm forced to stop at a set of lights which no one is crossing because the impatient gits are already across the road just as the light turns red.

That's nothing more than a place to park your car.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

That's why women should be presidents/prime ministers, there would be no wars, just a bunch of countries not talking to each other.Brodlach wrote:Just had that discussion wit then, blokes argue and it’s all over in an hourMW wrote:I should have just gone with two ladies...
