Has Gepps Cross got a woman's team up and running or are they one who has withdrawn? Serious question.

That's great for this season and a good base for future seasons. Hope it keeps going well.

Was it a one off that Blackfriars couldn’t field a team? Usually a well drilled club with strong numbers.

That 1R round might be one of the grimmest rounds ever.

4 games four 4 floggings

Upside being the better teams are putting scores on the board indicating development of the game

Game has developed massively - but the gulf between the top tiers and bottom are getting greater each season.

I still feel like the "growth" in club teams has been too rapid and too soon. Would like to see clubs establish strong programs first, work towards two women's sides.. and then any potential new clubs show a level of investment into female footy through junior sides.

The movement each season between clubs seems to be quite excessive as well.

Would it better at this stage that instead of a Reserves side that the second team fits into its own division? Makes programming a bit more difficult but would allow for more competitive matches.

I dont think so.

Makes it harder to get volunteers if you're playing a separate grounds. TBH this year has been a lot different to previous D1R seasons where its been pretty close. I know Iggies have almost an entirely new B grade, a lot of departures for both personal and professional reasons. Seems as though SMOSH are the same in speaking to a couple of people.

Henley were always going to struggle in ressies but theyre a strong club and will get it together,

Lot of poaching going on from the lower divisions, not necessarily paying players but offering pretty good incentives for the girls to come over.

Totally Agree, I know of a few clubs who have worked their teams through the junior system before nominating a senior team.

Goodwood Saints went down this pathway and has got them 2 senior teams now, Payneham worked the opposite way though where they went for the senior team first, then got the junior sides through the grades to now have some of those junior players playing senior football.
