Re: SANFL 2024
Club's distributing info asking people to fill out the charles sturt council's survey to ensure the SANFL get a lease of 42 years.
I'd imagine the Crows would have a bit riding on this too as if it doesn't get up the SANFL won't be leaving Thebby.

Yeah, I mean it's going to be hard to see how the league survives without the enormous crowds the two reserves sides brought in...
I'm trying to think of anyone who would actually even notice the cancers being gone. At a stretch, members of the Port Adelaide Bowling Club perhaps?

I don't think there will be, nor is there a need for more than 8 sides in the SANFL. Each side is well established in their area, both their metro and country zone.
However, if for some reason, the SANFL decided they needed to replace the AFL Ressies sides with 2 more teams, maybe...
1) Port District to fill the hole left by the Port Magpies
2) A north-eastern suburbs team - Golden Grove/TTG/Modbury etc
3) Mt Barker - close to Adelaide, big population still growing and an oval already built
4 & 5) Whyalla & Mt Gambier - SA's two biggest cities outside of Adelaide
8 teams,
21 games,
one at home,
one away,
one in country zone,
final 4,
Perfect scenario.
You realise what you just said means 7 games in the country?
I like the idea of one home, one away, one neutral (so that it's even for all clubs).
I reckon at least one of those 7 'neutral' games should be at Adelaide Oval. Perhaps as many as 3 - and each side plays two home games in their country zone.
I think clubs would probably baulk at a reduction in home games (i.e. at main suburban venues) from 10 to 7. However, it could probably be made to work.

Correct, not going to play matches there to make large financial loses.

You mean I'd only get to see 7 games at the Bay?
No change then.

Could double headers be used for neutral matches.

Re: SANFL 2024
There will be no neutral games. One year you’ll have 10 home games, the next year 11.
For the likes of North, Norwood, Sturt and us that will be good given our entrenched support.
It will be the same principle as 20 years ago where over two years you played every team five times

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The eleventh game could be in their country zones, so each team would play in their zone every second year, and each team would play one country game a year, ie West, after having gone to Lincoln this year, now wouldn't draw the Bays at Millicent
Could make it a round in itself early in the season if you could keep away from Gather Round, Easter and country leagues starting.

Makes sense and has merit.
Caveat is of course that Port and the Crows actually leave, so we’ll see how that pans out first.

Makes sense. 4 country games every year. Could have it between the same teams, home zone one year, away zone the next and have "country cup" teams.
1st Game: Sturt vs Central with Hills vs BLG and vice versa the year after.
2nd Game: North vs Norwood with Northern vs Eyre Peninsula and vice versa the year after.
3rd Game: West vs Eagles with Eastern (minus Hills) vs Central (minus BLG) and vice versa the year after.
4th Game: South vs Glenelg with Southern Districts vs South-East and vice versa the year after.

Re: SANFL 2024
Youths have pulled a knife on Sturt football club's property manager during senior training and officials have been threatened and pelted with objects. The walls outside the oval were later vandalised. WTF.

Should read, "Low life grub threatens a bloke who served his country and volunteering his time at a SANFL club."
There really are some despicable pieces of excrement walking amongst us.
