8 years is a long time in football.
Certainly is...............
When you’re going backwards!
My original point was Port haven’t progressed forward in this area as much as the other Clubs have.
Port and Essendon in the early days lead the way but other clubs now take that mantle.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Can you provide more on how you reached this conclusion, or makes you believe this to be the case? Or is this one of those "gut feel" things?

Essendon definitely dropped the ball when Sheedy departed. Thankfully current management is doing its best to fix that and we have a pretty decent setup with our NGA in the Tiwi Islands

Hmmm..interesting how do you measure "progressing forward" in what's widely recognized as one of the best programs in the country?
Paul Vandenbergh is an amazing individual who would do more than you could even possibly dream up in one of your anti-Port wet dreams and the program he oversees should only be admired.
Unbelievable that I'm arguing with you about it, but that's your call because I'll defend it to the hilt.
I think it's a positive thing that there is a perception certain clubs aren't leading the way anymore in indigenous programs. This suggests to me that everyone else is making more of an effort these days and succeeding in their programs. We should celebrate all the programs as a massive step forward from as little as 20 years ago.

I found it staggering that recent departures of Impey, Wingard, Ah Chee and Amon wanting out were attributed to Vandenbergh.

Yeah, which is weird coz I thought Port have a really good Indigenous program.
Port do and it’s widely known and respected.
It’s simply sour grapes from a spoilt brat that got told to pull his head out of his ass and work harder. Bloke has more natural ability than most in the league but zero work rate. Would rather watch NBA games.
Probably retire after 1 year under Clarkson.
Care to place a carton of Woodstock on Chad retiring next year ??

So why Would 4 indigenous players leave the greatest indigenous programme the afl has ever seen in the last 24 months then ???
Genuine question.
Let me guess Hinkley ???

It’s my opinion based on what I hear and see.
Given you’ve lost 2 indigenous players in 2 years do you think all things are great at Port?
The fact that Port people just assume their programme is the best is hilarious.
As mentioned previously there are other clubs outside of this state that do things well.
