Has to play 12 AFL games to be bestowed that honour ...

Far out, is there some traffic or what this season!
Of course, we've got the pick of the recruits. The rest of you guys are dreaming if you think your recruits are all going to be successes.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
If Fos Williams and Jack Oatey were still alive they would be embarrassed at how the SANFL has become this coming season
What ever happened to loyalty , playing for the jumper ?
Clubs to be used once again to prop up ailing or fledging AFL draft players
The Port Adelaide saga has been a farce, the comp wont be the same without this club as we used to know it
Gone are the years when supporters looked forward to what SANFL junior at the club would make a pre season impact
The AFL has these days more or less ruined this once magnificent comp
Guys like Centurion tried their best to save the comp

The Fos Williams that started at West and then went to Port. And the Jack Oatey who started at Norwood before going to Sturt. Give me a break
Loyalty has been long gone for players and coaches, the only loyalty left is that of supporters who stand by their clubs through thick and thin.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
Jack Oatey [NW] played for 1 club in 181 games
Fos Williams[WA + PA] represented 2 clubs in 239 games
They coached at various clubs
But that's the nature of coaching , many players coach at different clubs
There's only been about 8-10 teams in the comp when Jack and Fos coached
Suri , will agree on one thing
Loyalty is supporting clubs though thick and thin
Those around my club , know how much I contribute

Godden needed a Templeton. Now the Eagles can spiritually Growden as a playing group and hopefully win the flag in 2014!

So the Legs can only recruit one more player from outside their zone? Is that right?

The eagles are good at making kids standout but the amount that are never heard from again is abnormally high i would think.
Interesting that you give 6 of the Eagles recruits a pass mark - 6 is the total number of Central juniors drafted in both the main and rookie drafts in the past 6 years.
In the same time the Eagles have had 21 players drafted (17) or rookie listed (4).
No doubt you'll be able to find some spin to discredit all of this but these are the raw numbers.
BTW I think you find the stats on the total number of drafted players who don't make 100 games to be quite alarming. If WWT have 30%-40% of draftees making 100 games then they are way ahead of the average.
Here is a stat from a couple of years ago:
The facts, taken from AFL drafts between 1996 and 2005, are these:
29% of top 10 selections play 50 games or fewer; only 51% reach 100 games.
55% of those picked after selection No.10 play 50 games or fewer.
44% of those picked after selection No.10 play 25 games or fewer.
16% of those picked after selection No.10 never get to take the field at all.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
Depending on what time frame you use several different clubs including the Eagles, West, North, Norwood, etc have had periods of bring on top in regard t how many players have been drafted. Personally I wouldn't care less if my team were top or bottom in that aspect unless they start handing out premiership points for drafted kids.

Sorry i didnt realize SANFL clubs are in existence to supply AFL clubs with players, thats where we have been going wrong, while we were winning 9 flags the rest of you were developing players for the AFL.

Re: Rumours and Player Movement Discussions for 2014
Pretty sad times for the SANFL
We now have arguably the two best SANFL footballers in the last ten years changing clubs purely for money.
I can understand why but it doesn't mean I have to like it.
SANFL relies on its tribal passion, if players are going to move from club to club like the NBA I can see even more people walking away.
