Maybe part of the issue is the members and their expectations? If they hadn't chased those players and instead invested in the draft, to the detriment of on field results, and not been as competitive - how would the members have viewed it?

They all seem to be expecting flags every season.. as soon as Port falters they get nasty.
This, with respect, is utter bollocks. Cornes on the Sunday Footy Show noted Port fans still think it's the SANFL and we'll win flags every other year, that's 30 f*cking years ago and not one Port fan I know thinks that way. It's bullshit.

What we expect is the club to do everything it can every year to strive for that, under this current regime and coach we have had plenty of goes at it ( see my list management post above ), there's now only one thing left to do and that should have been done 4 years ago, give someone else a go.
THIS.

A ****ING THOUSAND TIMES, THIS.

So if they decide to go to the draft and forego trying to strive for a flag in that year - how will that be received?

What club's fans are happy bottoming out? Of course it wouldn't be met with screams of joy.

No fans are happy with bottoming out. It's the manner of how the rebuild is done which gets fans happy or frustrated.

They have tried to load up to win a flag under Ken, which is fair enough, we did the same when we thought we were close with 2 Prelims in a row, I just wonder if they would have done the same under a different coach who maybe had a 3-4 year contract.

Either way in '25 there will be a natural adjustment somewhat with Dixon and Boak not there.

Not sure what you mean by load up. We're as active as anyone in the trade period and only twice under Hinkley have made less than 2 trades in a year. We're constantly looking for the answer when the question is right in front of us.

Port need more than a new coach to challenge for a premiership.
Their forward setup is average at best.
Marshall and Lord won’t scare too many defenders and Rioli is too hot and cold.
And there’s a good reason Ratugolea couldn’t get a game at the Cats as he lacks speed and his ball movement and decision making is Div 3 ammo stuff.
Need a genuine lockdown defender

Just think back throughout the season

Collingwood started slowly, Premiership hangover, wont make the finals etc etc turned it around

then we went to Melbourne, issues with Goodwin should be replaced etc etc, in house issues, playing crap footy and losing still a few issues hanging around but they are getting some wins.

then we had the Bulldogs, huge issues with the coach, not winning games, has lost the players, needs to go, next thing the Bulldogs are up and flying

Let alone also what was going on at the WCE early in the year and the fact the Simpson shouldnt have been reappointed, they are crap etc etc, have improved and apart from the disaster against the Crows have been in most matches.

Port lose a few games and world war 3 breaks out, no different to the Clubs mentioned above, very winnable games the next 4 matches and in fact perhaps the next game you put could put a cross against is Round 20 against Carlton at the MCG

Lose this week i may change my thought a little but think this is really a huge blowup for a couple of poor performances

Who would be an AFL coach

In a surprise to absolutely no one, Dangerfield got off his charge.

Should've never been reported.
Walsh flopped, they're all doing it.

Seriously these guys need to do more neck weights like f1 drivers do.

I'm glad May got fined because players are not stupid they will always find a way to milk a free. I don't think Walsh was trying to milk a free, but moreso what else could dangerfield do other than let him breeze by. You still need to be allowed to tackle.

He had the ball in his right arm. Upon the tackle he could've dropped it on to his foot, then Dangerfield has to release the left arm so now he's got arms free to protect the fall.
I know he only had a split second to do it but he looks back at Dangerfield and tries to break the tackle.
Time enough to do the above.
In my view if you take on the tackle and get hurt accidentally bad luck.

Petracca getting a little emotional on 360 talking about his injury.
It's really ****ed him up mentally.
Hopefully he comes back the same player but looks like it's really going to challenge him I think.

C’mon mate , I think you need to watch it again with your glasses on.
Walsh had a 95kg beast tackle him and he could do nothing.
He certainly didn’t flop.

Load up might not be the right word, but they have sacrificed draft picks for play now talent, if Ken wasn't there Im not sure they would have gone down this path.
