Any suggestions on what sort of $$ are involved to get one that doesn't look embarrassingly cheap? And best places to source?

Is it something you're gonna wear regularly?

No mate, I avoid wearing a suit like the plague .. Think my last one cost about $700 back in 2005 and I've worn it 5 times. I'd dust it off for this occasion but Im not sure Pin stripes are the go or that the Jacket will still button up lol

You could get something half decent from Peter Shearer for $400-500 (just the suit, assuming you have shoes, shirts and ties)

Navy suit, brown shoes, brown belt, white shirt etc

Im not metro enough for that, I usually like the Black, Black and more Black options.

If you only have one suit, it should be navy, as it's the most versatile. Black is least versatile.

I've been on the lookout for one, I wouldn't be able to pull it off like you though.

How so? Black is suitable for weddings and funerals isn't it? They make up %99 of the time I expect to wear it :D

Navy suit goes with black or brown shoes/belt and a billion shirt/tie combos... I reckon if you're the type to opt for no tie then it's the perfect suit

The missus keeps the plums in a jar so shouldn't be a problem

Do not buy from Connor. DO NOT BUY FROM CONNOR. That is for people who still think Lynx is a suitable deodorant and are on their way to their school formal.

There is not much difference between a tailored $500 suit and a $5000 suit. But you have to ensure it *fits*. Shoulder points are actually on the point of the shoulder. Jacket sleeves to the thumb knuckle. Pants not bunched at the bottom but don't show socks either. Belt must match shoes.

Black suit, black shoes
Blue suit, light brown shoes
Grey Suit, dark brown shoes.

There is no other colour suit you should buy.

Shoes are just as important as the suit. You're tying everything together. Balance is the key.

I would recommend Calibre - they just opened a store in Rundle Mall.
Jack London also very good but a bit preppy.
MJ Bale pretty nice as well.

If it's not going to be a regular thing, can you just look at hiring perhaps?

Not at all, trying to prevent someone looking like they've been dressed by their Mum. Maybe JK is single and wants to cut one from the herd? Women notice this sort of shit.

Connor is for kids, man.
