The disturbing thing about that article is that they seem to be only worried about the amount of compensation, not the concept

It's probably all they had room to comment on. The logistical problems have been pointed out in other articles, especially the Neil Craig one.
It's good to have another angle than bang on about the same points.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Interesting that two of the clubs have 16 and seventeen listed AFL players. I wonder what the most is in SA? Maybe the Eagles. Also the two clubs contribute $9.5 million in distributions back to the WAFL clubs.

West have the most with 15 on AFL lists and Eagles 2nd with 14. Central have the least with 6 and Norwood with 7.
West: 15 AFL players - Crows (3 home grown/3 imports) / Power (2 home grown/7 imports)
Eagles: 14 - Crows (5 home grown/3 imports) / Power (5 home grown/1 import)
Glenelg: 11 - Crows (1 home grown/3 imports) / Power (5 home grown/2 import)
South: 11 - Crows (1 home grown/6 imports) / Power (1 home grown/3 imports)
North: 10 - Crows (4 home grown/2 imports) / Power (3 home grown/1 import)
Port Magpies: 10 - Crows (2 home grown/2 imports) / Power (1 home grown/5 imports)
Sturt: 9 - Crows (2 home grown/3 imports) / Power (2 home grown/2 imports)
Norwood: 7 - Crows (0 home grown/ 2 imports) / Power (2 home grown/ 3 imports)
Central: 6 - Crows (2 home grown / 2 imports) / Power (2 home grown/ 0 imports)
I counted someone like Simon Phillips as a home grown by the way, given he was recruited to the Power from Norwood.

Nice one topsy. Now hush, or I'll start a conspiracy about the red on the Norwood guernsey.

Glenelg: 10 - Crows (1 home grown/3 imports) / Power (5 home grown/1 import)
Boak and Salopak aren't home grown Bays players. Just Cornes x 2, Hitchy and Loges.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I had Meyer as well. Wasn't sure if he was home grown? Thought he was.
Also had Salopek down as a Port Magpies player so have adjusted that.

D'oh forgot Danny, hope 85WAGY forgives me, so we are 11 listed AFL players then.

Re: West Coast/Freo Reserves in WAFL proposal
The WAFL already have this week's budget available for download and the editor (coincidently a female) has a piece on the WCE/Freo reserves proposal. Somehow I think that a few clubs are not at all impressed with their AFL clubs arrogance towards the WAFL competition

Yes, I harp about it, but you have to admire how well the WAFL Budget is when you compare it to the SANFL one.

Yes, it is such a shame how useless our budgets have become.

Sorry I am about to take this on a tangent ... BUT
What would you want in a weekly SANFL publication that the budget currently does not do?

Have a look at a budget from 30 or 40 years ago and you'll see how much more content there was then. I'd have thought with the lack of newspaper coverage that there was ample opportunity for a large range of print pieces (much as Football Times carried), so that you could actually make it something to seek out each week.

What would it take to have a Crows and Power Reserves team in the SANFL?
Nothing much to do with the AFL.
It would take, according to the SANFL Constitution, a 3/4 majority of the clubs. That is 3/4 of 8 clubs and the Independent Leagues(?) delegate. Therefore 7 of the 9 votes would have to be in favour.
I'm not sure that Port would be able to fund it anyway and if the Magpies went in favour of a Port Reserves team, they wouldn't get a SANFL dividend perhaps.
I suspect the WAFL clubs will vote it down first.

I think they would cease to exist.
