Ive been doing the Les Mills programs like Body Pump, RPM (high intensity 60 min fitness bike work with music) and one night a week boxing session.

Sometimes do my own thing like go on tread mill and cross trainer for 30 - 40 min then do some weights for say 20 min. (Body Pump is a hign intensity weight class)

Sometimes run the streets of my suburb for 25 min (Happy Valley is hilly!!)

Cut down on breads and now just usually have a salad or wrap. No Dairy. Usually have a Swisse Slim Shake in the morning (with Rice Milk) to stop cravings in the day.

Still drink my diet cokes, soy coffee and water.

Very focused .....Just saying to Mrs Southee Im too scared to weigh myself as I dont want to get "let down" by my results.

I've heard soy is not good for blokes - anyone else heard this? I try and stick to Zymill milk -both bean bar and cibo stock it.

I'm on the health kick myself - me and the missus are getting into it. Longer term with our first goal to look better by June when we go to Thailand. We are:
- slowly changing our eating habits - minimising junk food completely (we ate a lot of this)
- reducing alcohol intake - hard to give up completely at this time of year
- dramatically increasing exercise - weights and cardio
- counting calories

I've taken before photos and hope to take another at 4 weeks and see some improvements - have a facebook page set up and everything - bit embarassing but i hope it keeps me accountable.

Starting weight is 101kgs
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

I did this once as part of a gym challenge, and thought to myself "Can't see this helping, but oh well if you say so" .. Didn't look at the after shot until 12 weeks later when the program had completed, and the difference in before and after was huge. Really added to the motivation afterward to keep going with the training and eating etc.

So personally, I reckon that's an excellent move mate and good luck with your fitness kick!!

Cheers mate.

Have done things on and off for years but never sustained anything. Body for Life gave me my best results, but stopped after 7 weeks when i tore my hamstring. Hopefully i can make the changes that i can carry on for life, and drop the weight i need to.

Please don't forget legs and back :D

Squats and rackpulls FTW!

Yeah I have to do a fair bit of core strength work had a history of 'bad' back

I cycle 25 minutes a day to work so I generally don't do alot of leg work but yeah I definatly should do more

Done properly, squats and deadlifts will strengthen your core and back.

If do correctly.. no can defend!

I've been a long time consumer of artificial sweetener soft drinks like Pepsi Max and Diet Coke .. Recently a few people have told me that these drinks don't actually keep the weight at bay.

Can any of you guru's confirm or deny?

Less sugar in your mouth the more weight you'll lose with the appropriate excercise.

They don't know what they're talking about. Zero calories is zero calories.

The bad press comes from hype about the artificial chemicals contained in them. IIRC, aspartame actually helps to supress appetite.

Thanks for that lads .. I think a couple of them had recently watched some "5 things you should never have to lose weight" video's on the net, and they included the Diet Coke's etc.

I can merrily continue to enjoy my Pepsi Max then :D

Doesn't caffeine make you hungry? Also harder for your body to process the chemicals?

Not entirely true. Having a calorie deficit is the only way you can lose weight. For most people cutting back the amount sugar will more then likely give them that deficit.

Yeah I'm a diet coke fan .

Read in today's paper more than 4 cans per day can lead to depression.

I only have 1 or 2 a day.

I rather drink water and the diet coke than some high sugar hit!!
Real coke is really terrible with the amount of sugar in it.
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

It's weird, during the sober days I'll drink Pepsi Max or Diet Coke and can't stand normal Coke, but if Im on the Whiskeys then I still mix it with the real (sugary) thing.

I thought it was the other way Q, a lot of the sweeteners actually stimulate appetite?

Latest I read on aspartame was of it's appetite supressing qualities. Not sure on all the other crap in these drinks.
