NORM Smith medallist Brian Lake has again expressed interest in playing at Caroline Springs next season, after announcing his retirement today.
The 33-year-old ended his career with a third straight AFL premiership with Hawthorn to cap a career spanning 251 games across two clubs.
Caroline Springs president Dean Ellis said a number of other clubs would come knocking for the AFL star but Lakers were hopeful of securing his services.
“I’ve heard Deer Park have thrown money at him as well, that wouldn’t surprise me,” he said.
“Brian is the type of guy that does things for the right reasons. It’s his decision. But I’d be pretty confident if he played local football next year, he’d play at Caroline Springs, going by what he’s told us.
Given one Div 1 Club in the pre-salary cap survey admitted to paying players >$100k I wonder if we'll see a mass exodus as this cub attempts to conform with the new salary cap

Did Craig Dawe quit?
All 3 coaches were not re-appointed
Oh wow, that's a bit of a shock.
Any news who'll get the job?

A month or so ago I said some things about Henleys coach Kym Cobb that related to playing. I would like to apologise unreservedly about the nature of my flippant comment and wish him well for his future. He is obviously Pi....d with it and rightly so. A lesson to be learned from a Div 7 person to a Div 1 coach.
Apologies again and thanks for the honesty in our conversation Cobby. Maybe I can learn a bit from you in diplomacy.
