Re: General tv discussion thread - good, bad, axings etc etc
I watched three episodes of Preacher on Stan last night.
Based on the comic, it's R18+, super violent, and lots of fun.

I started watching it the other night but gave up
So, considering I really enjoyed Narcos: No
IIRC, a lot of it was in Spanish with no sub-titles

Watched the first season and didn't mind it. I'm a bit of a fan of the era.
Started the 2nd season and got interrupted, so left it with the intention of catching up someday, but haven't re-visited yet.

Re: General tv discussion thread - good, bad, axings etc etc
Been watching "The Handmaid's Tale" on SBS on demand in the last few days. It's a very, very scary story.
Highly recommended, particularly if you're into shows that are set in a future dystopia. Except the future isn't ruled by technology and robots, but rather it has regressed to a much simpler time when God and the Bible gave everyone the answers. This is because it depicts what it would be like to live under a Christian totalitarian regime - a bit like an Amish version of Orwell's "1984", or North Korea except everything revolves around Bible scripture as the law and satisfying the will of God in general. In particular, women have no rights, and are simply used as property.
Elisabeth Moss (Peggy from "Mad Men") is the central character, who is fantastic as a a 'handmaid' whose job is to bear kids for a high ranking government official whose wife can't conceive. The show examines her desire to rebel and break free of the regime, and it shows how American society slipped from today's normal into a totalitarian religious theocracy in the near future (which is part of what makes it so scary).

I didnt watch Ninja, but from the ads, I assumed it was a combibation of Its a Knockout, Gladiators & Man O Man.....in other words, a load of crap.
I wouldnt put Toothbrush in with those shows, it was good value, as was another ch7 show of that era, The Main Event which was hosted by Larry Emdur, & I think ex soccer player Craig Johnston had some involvement.
