I really did like the trebles and other options that were available 'back in the day"on the sanfl punting at the tab....

If you were really old it'd be 1-10!!

WEST END STATE TEAM

F: Jake Johansen, Josh Scott, Alex Barns
HF: Robbie Young, Jack Hayes, Justin Hoskin
C: Marlon Motlop, Zane Kirkwood, Jarred Allmond
HB: Cameron Shenton, Luke Thompson, Jack Stephens
B: Matt Rose, Fraser Evans, Tom Keough

R: Darcy Fort, Mitch Grigg, Matt Panos
INT: Kaine Stevens, Travis Schiller, Josh Hone, Aidan Riley, Sam Colquhoun, Jonathon Beech, Luke Surman

Forward line looks a little light on. Pleasing to see Matt Rose get a game, very consistent contributor since landing at Noarlunga.

I’ve attended a few state games but won’t be tuning in tomorrow, go watch some local footy instead.

Yeah, agree saintal, forward line doesn't fill me with too much confidence, but rest of the side isn't too bad.

Side wise....is Summerton injured? Disgrace if he isn't picked otherwise. Our midfield looks good with Grigg, Panos, Schiller, Kirkwood etc but otherwise would have to say it is one of the weakest state sides I've seen in years or since I actively started watching state footy back in the mid to late 90's.

WA side not too bad really, will give us a run even at home. Hoping we still have the grunt in the middle to get up though.

SA by 8 points, Grigg for the medal.

Summerton playes for an afl reserves side. Should not be allowed to play.
Apparently he was not considered for selection.

I believe Terry Milera was invited out but didn't go out to training because he couldn't be bothered playing.

This is correct.

A number of players advised selectors that they were not available to play prior to the squad being announced.

I wish all North players did the same.
What a waste of a weekend disrupting the most exciting season for 5 years.

Perhaps, but it appears Fort has had a good season for the Dogs.

'Brookers' form has been solid without dominating. Has drifted forward and kicked a few goals which has been handy. With Sam Overall sidelined for the next two months we'll need more of that.

Fort and Brooksby would be a fair combo in any side, both are quality rucks and can kick a few.

Don't see what difference that makes since he isn't an AFL listed player. Should have been picked based on merit and he deserves a spot

Its a battle of one states league comp versus the others. Noone wants reserves players of the AFL involved.
If that happened no state game would ever happen again as the NEAFL and VFL sides would dominate.
If Summerton doesn't like it he could always make an angry tweet before money may change his mind about any integrity he has.

If you are not AFL listed then you are not an AFL reserves player...this seems fairly obvious? I would expect a VFL state side to pick players from AFL aligned clubs so long as those selected were not on the AFL list.

Just checked TV guide not on TV tomorrow, channel 7 showing repeats of some reality TV show.

What a joke.

I think saying he “couldn’t be bothered” playing is different to him not actually wanting to play. As stated on here he is not the only player to turn down an invitation to train.

Obvious to most but these guys bitterness is as strong now as it was 5 years ago. This is just another whinge thread. The AFL in terms of standards and rulings is the worst it has been and the SANFL has a great opportunity to attract new fans by displaying a positive playing style and simpler interpretation of the rules, what better way to promote than in front of spectators that wouldn't normally attend.

Agreed, well the 2nd bit anyway. Always thought the best route for the SANFL is to be their own man and offer an alternative.
Think you are missing the point a bit regarding the bitterness being as strong. Of course it is. If you are anti something,no matter what it is, then time is irrelevant. It’s principles that matter.

Anyway it is a fair point to raise.

From what I’ve seen this year though I’m not sure Summerton is on his game as much as previous seasons. He certainly doesn’t seem to be getting the ball as much as he did. I’d be interested to read the views of you Port boys. How old is Summerton?

He debuted in 2006 aged about 18 I think so probably about 30.
