State game - SANFL v WAFL @ Adelaide Oval Sat. 12/5
I hope I’m wrong but from the WAFL games I’ve watched this season I don’t think WA can muster enough quality to trouble you blokes
Ex-AFL players Zac Clarke, Pat McGinnity, Nic Suban and Aston Hams will lend WA some skill and composure and you can also expect a good showing from forwards Gerard Ugle of Peel and Ben Sokol from Subiaco as well as Swan Districts defender Tony Notte, but I can see us being overwhelmed in front of a pre-Showdown parochial crowd.

I suspect that the pre-showdown crowd will not give a stuff.

Piss weak by the SANFL. You need an AFL ticket to watch. GAGF sellouts.

Yep. I would usually be the first one along to these games (see avatar), but I won't be there on Saturday.
It's an absolute disgrace that a state match should be a curtain raiser. Probably a good thing I won't be going. I can't stand the thought of having to put up with people filing in, standing up, arranging their gear while I'm trying to watch the state game.

I rather spend $35 at a local club. Rather $35 to get in to watch the state game

I'd rather watch paint dry, although I'd watch the 'State' game in preference to an AFL game if I had to choose. I shall be watching neither on the weekend, just hope any Dogs players involved don't get hurt.

I like the State games and am disappointed that Victoria and Tasmania threw the towel in on the concept. It gives the players who are out of the AFL picture a chance to play the game at a higher level.
Still I agree that the match should be a stand-alone fixture and not an AFL curtain raiser.

Re: State game - SANFL v WAFL @ Adelaide Oval Sat. 12/5
This is the second best game of the year behind the GF....sad that it's been treated like this by the SANFL.
Side wise....is Summerton injured? Disgrace if he isn't picked otherwise. Our midfield looks good with Grigg, Panos, Schiller, Kirkwood etc but otherwise would have to say it is one of the weakest state sides I've seen in years or since I actively started watching state footy back in the mid to late 90's.
WA side not too bad really, will give us a run even at home. Hoping we still have the grunt in the middle to get up though.
SA by 8 points, Grigg for the medal.

For anybody with a passing interest:
WEST END STATE TEAM
F: Jake Johansen, Josh Scott, Alex Barns
HF: Robbie Young, Jack Hayes, Justin Hoskin
C: Marlon Motlop, Zane Kirkwood, Jarred Allmond
HB: Cameron Shenton, Luke Thompson, Jack Stephens
B: Matt Rose, Fraser Evans, Tom Keough
R: Darcy Fort, Mitch Grigg, Matt Panos
INT: Kaine Stevens, Travis Schiller, Josh Hone, Aidan Riley, Sam Colquhoun, Jonathon Beech, Luke Surman
Forward line looks a little light on. Pleasing to see Matt Rose get a game, very consistent contributor since landing at Noarlunga.
I’ve attended a few state games but won’t be tuning in tomorrow, go watch some local footy instead.

Sturt and the Eagles would beat this side IMO

Summerton playes for an afl reserves side. Should not be allowed to play.

Re: State game - SANFL v WAFL @ Adelaide Oval Sat. 12/5
From a purely selfish point of view, I’d prefer no Glenelg players were picked for risk of injury.
However, it staggers me that Matty Snook couldn’t even make the squad.

Sturt and Eagles can't even beat last year's wooden spooner on their own home ground, they wouldn't get close.

Neither Sturt nor the Eagles could beat North in the past few weeks let alone beat a state side.
