I imagine there will be a lot of people slowly walking laps of park 9 to get their permitted daily exercise where the D1 top of the table game will just happen to be taking place.Pag wrote:That's a shame there's no spectators, I was gonna walk the dog down to Mortlock for the top of the table game.scottroo wrote:Shambolic

No crowd restriction's favours Pulteney coz they don't get anyone coming to watch their games anyway.

there is absolutely 0 chance this will be able to be mandated - how are you going to stop people from entering grounds with no gates - what an absolute joke this is

Re: COVID-19
How do you also stop people entering a licensed venue that is legally allowed to trade and be open on the weekend? Because there's a football game on the oval, a club has to close its doors to patrons because they could be considered spectators? Would the Grand North for example be open for trade on saturday if Greenies didn't have a bye?Sticks28 wrote:there is absolutely 0 chance this will be able to be mandated - how are you going to stop people from entering grounds with no gates - what an absolute joke this is

Aren’t ovals public reserves anyway? I can’t see how clubs can stop people watching footy.

Re: COVID-19
There’s nothing stopping you taking a deck chair and sitting outside a fenced venue where you can still view the game if you can’t go inside the licensed premises - We saw that on the weekend with The Bulldogs and Adelaide. You’d rather people check in to a venue so you can trace it if there was an issue. Simply ludicrous….

Re: COVID-19
I'd suggest that the SA government and relevant authorities may have done a deal of sorts with local sporting organisations. "We will allow sport to resume as long as you help us promote no spectators" absolutely zero chance of policing this. As I understand there are NO restrictions on being in an open air public space except that if necessary masks be worn and maintain 1.5m.

Does this mean that B Graders would need to leave after their game, not able to stay around and watch the As?

In the open space parkland grounds at what point are you a spectator compared to being a person standing in a public space.
My biggest pet hate in the universe, rules for the sake of rules, rules that you simply cannot enforce.

Indeed, fine line between picnicking next to a football game (permitted) and spectating a football game (discouraged).whufc wrote:In the open space parkland grounds at what point are you a spectator compared to being a person standing in a public space.

The more I think about this the more the stupidity pisses me off, particularly when you know they'll let between 10,000 and 20,000 in Adelaide Oval for the showdown on saturday night.
The restrictions have largely worked because for the majority the public can see a level of sense in them and they're not unduly oppressive. The second you lose the public's confidence in this, through shit like this, you're no where.
As an aside, PNU has it's annual lunch in the clubrooms on Friday afternoon. That can be seated at 100% capacity for 100+ odd people not wearing masks while eating or drinking (and I suspect there will be much of each done) but those same people are discouraged from going to the parklands the next day to stand outside in the open air. Madness.

Re: COVID-19
The only logical concern the government could have is the Covid tracing element of spectators.
If you don't have trust in clubs / marshals to enforce this why request they have these people in place at all.
Don't know about others either but I can guarantee more people have been covid checking in at country games where there is gated system compared to how many people check in to the local woolies.

Re: COVID-19
I agree. However, if they mandated masks while watching I'm betting that they would have got a pretty high level of compliance, and something reasonably straight forward for the COVID marshals to enforce.whufc wrote:The only logical concern the government could have is the Covid tracing element of spectators.

This just creates a mess for everyone from the League to the Clubs to the ordinary spectators.
